The Legend of Bunker Spoon fishing now makes it even easier to use wire line to troll his spoons. Tony Maja's Pre-Marked Trolling Wire is available in both stainless steel and monel, and is color marked in 100', 150', 200', and 250' sections. This lets you know exactly how much wire is deployed, and how deep your spoons or rigs are. Available in both 40# and 50# test.

Very nice!

Very convenient to have the wire pre-marked. This saves time marking it yourself. The wire works just as good as any wire without the hassle of marking it.

I have gone "All In" with Tony Maja spoons, rod, & wire. I have not been disappointed and have high confidence wih the gear. If the Bass are there it will bring em over the rail! I doubled down with 2 of his bunker spoon rod/reel/wire combo. Enjoying the dinner fare! Thank you

Reminds Me of the band "Kinks"
September 30, 2017
I have more kinks than the kinks for the first 50 or so feet and I must be color blind because the markers look the same color! I'm going to try it with roller guides! Maybe to much wire was installed at Direct! As my fishing buddy said "you have some good hanger wire" for the excess!
Pros
  • Looks good after a 100 feet are "peeled" off the Shimano 600 reel!
Cons
  • Kinks

Looking to back this with Dacron. What pound test Dacron would be good to pair with the 50# Monel?
1 Answer
65-80lb dacron will do just fine. That way you have the strength and also the capacity.

IS THE COLOR CHANGE JUST A SMALL MARK OR DOES THE COLOR GO THE WHOLE LENGHT OF THE WIRE
1 Answer
color marked in 100', 150', 200', and 250' sections. This lets you know exactly how much wire is deployed, and how deep your spoons or rigs are.

Can you use 60 lb mono for backing ? How much backing should one put on a 4/0 senator

before the wire to make sure the spool is full ?

1 Answer
Hi Mike, I would recommend spooling up with 350 yards of 65lb dacron or braid backing so the wire can create a tight bond onto the spool. Then spool 300' feet of 50lb Monel trolling wire. https://www.tackledirect.com/tony-maja-pm50-300-pre-marked-50-monel-trolling-wire.html. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines
