Sitting at the top of Tica's lineup, the Tica TC3 Dolphin Surf Spinning Rods offer top notch surfcasting performance at a value that's tough to beat. The high modulus TC3 graphite blank construction of the Dolphin series reduces overall weight while increasing sensitivity. Lighter weights and smaller blank diameters help reduce angler fatigue while covering long stretches of beach. Though they are light and thin, these blanks will still provide ample fighting power when it's needed the most. With a wide variety of models varying in length and action, surf anglers can expect to find the perfect rod to fit their favorite techniques, whether it's throwing small artificials in the wash or launching heavy weights and bait chunks well past the breakers.

Features:

  • Constructed from high modulus Japanese TC3 graphite material
  • Fuji Alconite tip guide and Fuji Hardloy ring guides for better heat dissipation
  • Fuji DPS reel Seat
  • Signature TICA sliding foldable hook keeper
  • Non-slip cork tape handle
  • Custom diamond wraps above handle
  • Lightweight and sensitive for all day comfort

Top eyelet is garbage
June 7, 2022
Top eye had hair line crack in it didn’t realize it until done lost couple $10 jigs and got to investigating it but ended being a hair line crack I hit it a couple times with my finger and more of it broke off but tackle direct sent me a new one soon as I sent the other one back just think tica could do a better job and not put cheap eyelets on there

Good Rod for Surf-Casting Lures
May 13, 2022
The length, power, and action of this rod are perfect for surf-casting lures in the Northeast for Striped Bass and Blues. The rod is light, easy to carry long distances and effective within its rated range - and at a fair price point. I paired it with a Penn SpinFisher IV reel and PowerPro 30 lb. braid.
Pros
  • Excellent for lure fishing.
  • Light and manageable.
Cons
  • None, as long as you don't press it into service for applications it was not designed for.

I got the 9'MH 2-6oz for a rod this short and rated like this it still has some finesse at the tip unlike my rockaway hd 9'6. I like this rod much more for that reason plus it's lighter. I have it paired with a Shimano 6000 and it feels balanced.

good for price but heavy
February 22, 2022
these rods are priced well if you are just starting out, they flex enough that they will wear out anything you are fighting. they are not the most durable, and they are very heavy compared to more carbon rods.
Pros
  • price
  • flexible blank
Cons
  • heavy

Hi Josh, Depending on your fishing application I would recommend a Penn Battle III 5000 Spinning reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-btliii5000-battle-iii-spinning-reel.html This would pair well with the Tica UGSA90MH2S TC3 Dolphin Surf Spinning Rod for many surf fishing applications. January 14, 2022
What size Stradic would best fit the 9 ft Medium?
1 Answer
Hi Jeff, Based on your question I would recommend a Stradic 5000 but this will be a little small and light for the rod you are using. I would recommend a Shimano SRG5000SWAXG Saragosa SW A Spinning Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-srg5000swaxg-saragosa-sw-a-spinning-reel.html This reel has 22lbs of drag, Holds alot of line and will balance the Tica UGSA90M2S TC3 Dolphin Surf Spinning Rod making a more ideal surf setup. I love my tica 7 surge with a frigate 4000,

my 8 wiga with a pierce 5000, and my 10 tc1

with a Penn batttle iii 6000.HS.

I have a frigate 5000 as a spare and was

thinking about a dolphin 8 2 piece or the

surge 8two piece.  Thoughts?  It would be

For jetties or off a small boat so Im worried

About length,

Note: Ive had way too many fish lately

Feel like too much for the 7 surge.

Thanks!

1 Answer
Hi Eric, Based on your question I would recommend the Tica UGSA80MH2S TC3 Dolphin Surf Spinning Rod. Specifically Model: UGSA80MH2S; TD Code: TIC-0055. https://www.tackledirect.com/tica-ugsa80mh2s-tc3-dolphin-surf-spinning-rod.html This rod is strong but lightweight and would be fine to pair with a 5000 size reel for fishing off jetties for stripers. Would a Penn spinfisher vi be a good match with the 11 dolphin spinning?

If not, what would be?

1 Answer
Hi Julian, The Penn Spinfisher VI would be a great choice to match the Tica UGSA11MH2S TC3 Dolphin Surf Spinning Rod. I would recommend The Penn Spinfisher VI 6500 size. Specifically model: SSVI6500; TD Code: PEN-1678. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-spinfisher-vi-ssvi6500-spinning-reel.html. This would be a great combo for all kinds of bait fishing for the surf, beach, or pier. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Would a daiwa fuego 2500 or 3000 fit on the 7ft mh, for fluke striped bass sea bass and black fish?
1 Answer
You certainly could use this rod to target these fish, this rod is designed for surf use with slightly oversized guides  for casting more so than vertical jigging or boat fishing.

If targetting these species land-based, or boat i would say the 3000 size reel model would pair better for your application
