For those looking for big casts at a small price tag, look no further than the Tica TC1 Surge Surf Spinning Rods. The Surge series is built around an unsanded graphite and fiberglass composite blank that gives the rod an optimal balance of power and action. The Surge is easily one of the best all-around values among a crowded market of surf rods.

Features:

  • Strong and flexible graphite/fiberglass composite blank
  • Fuji O-Ring and titanium oxide ring guides
  • Non-slip rubber coated handle

Recived my rod in perfect condition. Extremely light but with serious backbone.

Nine foot rod!
June 16, 2022
This rod I used for a high low rig rod and it preformed well, the feel and action of this rod with the reel, a Penn Fierce 3000, was what I expected, how ever the reel was not!
Pros
  • Very light weight and extremely sensitive !
Cons
  • None

What a Rod!!

This was purchased to upgrade my surf fishing set up. It definitely improved my casting distance but the best advantage I saw was it held my line high out of the rough surf. It held up well on 20 pound red drum and even one accidentally sting ray catch.
Pros
  • Well built
  • Good performance for price
  • Light for size
  • Two piece construction for transport
Cons
  • None that I have encountered at this time

Big fan of tica rods. This MH 8’ rod is easy to fit when packing for trips, and handled decent size fish with ease. Note that the reel base is NOT wide for reels like 5000 series Penn models so I’ll be getting a new reel. See middle photo in pic
Pros
  • Sturdy. Built well
Cons
  • Reel seat not for 5000 series reels

One Of My Favs!
August 19, 2021
Not sure why but I love fishing short surf rods, 7-8'. When I first took the rod out I felt like the butt section was too long. So I pulled the rubber butt cap off and cut 6" off and glued it back on. Now I absolutely love this rod for casting 3/4-1oz plastics to snook off the beach. Its ridiculously light. The tip is so sensitive and theres plenty of backbone when you need it. I just love the action of this rod. I paired it with a Penn Slammer 3500 and couldn't be happier. In the fishing game sometimes its necessary to make some modifications to your gear to get the results that you want. This is one of those cases. Now I have a sweet 7'6" rod for $70. Can't beat it!!!

Would this rod in 12 ft be able to easily handle 7_8 foot sharks and be paired with fin nor offshore 7500? Thank you
1 Answer
Both reel and rod will be able to handle the size sharks you are targeting. Also the rod will pair well with the reel as far as balance to size. However the fin - nor may be difficult casting long distances.

I am thinking of getting the 12' model.  From the picture, the rear grip (reel seat to rod butt) seems kind of short.  Is this really the case for the 12' model.
1 Answer
Hi Kenneth, The Tica UKGA12H2S TC1 Surge Surf Spinning Rod has a distance of 27" inches measured from the rod butt to the beginning to the reel seat. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
