Fantastic Rod

Perfect rod to travel with. I was a bit doubtful of the performance of a 3 piece rod, but my first trip to the coast of NC confirmed my doubts were unwarranted. Love the rod.

Nice rod…until it broke
August 19, 2021
I bought this rod for a trip to AK to fish salmon in a few rivers. The rod looks nice and casted and felt balanced. I was fishing 10lb test on the rod rated for up to 12 and after hooking into a nice chum salmon and having a good fight for a few runs up and down the river the rod snapped just above the base of the upper section. Luckily I had also bought an okuma nomad at the same time for about half the price and it held up great for the rest of the trip.

Great rods
August 7, 2021
I purchased the ML spinning rod for a recent trip where I used it for some light surf and inshore fishing. The rod is very light for a travel rod coming in at only 4.6oz on my scale. It is also plenty sensitive, and has a great build quality. Best of all it fishes pretty much like a one piece rod, which is a weak point of a lot of travel rods. The travel case is also excellent, and is very compact so it takes up very little room. Overall I was happy enough with this on my recent trip that I came home and immediately ordered the MH casting rod to go along with the spinning model I already have.

Light and Sensitive
May 3, 2020
I purchased the medium weight travel rod. Super light and sensitive. Feels like a 1-piece rod. Exactly what I was looking for. Caught a 4-pound large mouth bass on my third cast with this rod. The "feel" of the rod is awesome.
Pros
  • Light, sensitive, alignment dots

Great Travel Rod
December 28, 2019
Bought the H spinning rod and used it on a trip to the Dominican Republic paired with a 4000 stradic and powerpro. Very sensitive, great feel. Caught snook and jacks. Rod considerably outperformed another competitor we had as well.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Sensitive
  • Does not feel like a 3 piece
Cons
  • Difficult to take apart once together (more of a pro than a con, rod does not come apart in use)

Very nice travel rod.

I ordered this for a small mouth trip requiring travel to Lake St Clair. The rod is well made and the grip is very comfortable. The case is very nice which is an improvement over previous rods that didn't have one.

Looking to pair my VR 125  with a temple fork  travel rod    I see the Heavy is out of stock.  Would  the MH be too light for that reel and 20 or 25 lb braid?
1 Answer
20 lb braid would do fine on this rod. I'd be cautious about going up to 25lb+ because casting distance might be affected.

Would you Recommend the Shimano Vanford 2500 or 3000 Reel for this rod. Mostly targeting inshore species flounder, drum, schoolie stripers etc.
1 Answer
I would pair this rod with the 2500, unless you need the extra casting distance and braid capacity. the 2500 keeps things light and make handling the schoolie size stripers, and red drum a blast

Will this rod be able to mount a Daiwa BG 4000 without any balancing issues? The 4000 Diawa BG runs a bit bigger than most 4000s. Need to know before I order. It weighs 14.3 oz and has a 10-14 lb test line rating. Thanks.
1 Answer
Yes this reel will balance well with this rod, you could also always go with a 3000 size as well.
