The Temple Fork Outfitters Professional Spinning Rod is tooled for anglers of all skill levels and is perfectly suited for a wide variety of species and environments. The blanks are highly durable, standard modulus, and moderate fast action with powerful butt sections. The Temple Fork Outfitters Professional Series also incorporates a down-locking reel seat with hidden threads, Fuji Concept O-ring guides, and cork grips. The grips run full length on 7 and 7 1/2 ft. spinning rods and are a split grip configuration on the rest. The Professional series continues to use the popular TFO color coded power system so you can quickly identify which action you are grabbing when the bite is hot. These rods are extremely durable, very sensitive, and won't let you down when a big fish is hooked.

Excellent line of rods.

I have the three of the TFO Professional 7'6" rods, the medium light, medium and medium heavy. I use them all for inshore salt and freshwater lake fishing. The action on all three is a great. They have a stiff spine running most of the length of the rod. The top two feet is where I can tell the difference in the action. I use the medium light for drop shots, finesse worms and light lures. The medium is a great all purpose rod and the medium heavy is just right for bigger lures like crank baits or jigs.

These really can't be beat for the price.
Pros
  • Quality and features for the price point.
Cons
  • One piece makes transportation difficult in a vehicle.

I don't like fast action rods, but I also don't like wet noodles... this rod has the perfect action for my liking. It loads up just like I want for casting, you can get lots of distance with minimal effort. Despite the rod having nice bend throughout(which I want), the backbone feels really solid. It's hard to find a true "moderate-fast" in the "fast" dominated market, but this is it. I went with the 7ft medium-light spinning model which is rated for 1/8-1/2oz. 1/8oz lures with lots of drag/resistance(like spinners) feel great on retrieval, but 1/4oz feels more like the sweet spot. 1/2oz would probably feel too heavy and bend the rod a lot, I haven't tried. If that's anything to go by for the other models, the middle of the lure rating is probably what you should focus on for a general idea. Techniques that require a good hook set obviously don't apply to my guide. Get a stiffer model for that.
Cons
  • Seems like it should be about $20 cheaper, tax and shipping make it feel too expensive in my opinion. Regardless, I bought it anyways because of the action.

Good rod, the guides on the medium heavy are not as strong as on the heavy. Casts great.
Pros
  • Good workmanship, design, colour. The heavy version is excellent.
Cons
  • top two guides on the medium heavy not strong enough. I would recommend the heavy version as this is a great rod.
