Casts lures like a dream!
December 7, 2020
This is the first real surf fishing pole I buy that is meant for lures and I gotta say it was well worth the money. I was easily casting 2-4 oz lures farther than I ever have and it definitely felt like the pole could handle more if needed. I used this pole in Puerto Vallarta and was catching sierra or I believe it's spanish mackerel and I was able to horse them in no problem. Only thing would be that the tip is a bit more sensitive but since I live in SoCal and there aren't too many big species to catch that more sensitive tip will help me catch and feel the smaller strikes. Overall I'm in love and haven't found anything to complain about yet.

This would have been the perfect rod if they put fuji K guides on it. I have mine paired with Daiwa Certate 4000HD and it’s the perfect pair for me.

Absolutely love this rod
March 23, 2020
I use this rod on the fishing pier and have been able to fight much bigger fish with it. Its sensitive, and I feel like the fish cant feel until its too late. Just the right amount of bend. I have thrown over 3oz with the 1/2oz-2oz maglite, no problem. And I love how light weight it is
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Seems very well built and strong plus it has warranty
Cons
  • None

Pros
  • Weight
  • Feel
  • 2 Piece design
  • Reel seat and guides are holding up well.
Cons
  • None so far.

Great rod
December 18, 2019
The 9’ 1-5oz has been perfect to me for 3 or 4 years now, I prefer it for metals and jigs but it’s fine with lighter plugs like sp minnows as well. It really shines in the 1.5-2.5 oz range and adds more than a few yards to my casting distance compared to many other rods I’ve used.

Superb Rod (11 ft 3-8oz)
March 17, 2019
I was hesitant on spending the $ on this rod but I can say it's worth! Very strong, sensitive, and light weight for the size. I can sling bucktails and plugs less than 2 oz super far even though its rated 3-8 oz.
Pros
  • Nice blue color, great warranty, casts far, strong
Cons
  • May be too stiff for some people

Excellent Surf Rod, great price point
June 20, 2017
Handles 1.5-2 oz baits with razor like precision. Rod action suits surf, jetty and bay fishing perfectly. Overall amazing quality and value for the price. Have handled bluefish and stripers up to ~20lbs with ease. Sensitive enough to use for shore based fluking as well but so far I've only pulled out shorts for the season. Don't hesitate - amazing rod. I have it paired with a Penn Slammer 6500 for blue/strippers and switch off to Penn Slammer 4500 for fluking.

Great rod for the money
August 31, 2016
If you don't have the $$ for a true Lami (not an Insane Surf, the real Lami's) or high end St Croix, ODM, etc, this offers an alternative to the other low-mid range surf rods. Very light and casts a mile. I bought the 10'6" and find that it's better suited for 1-4 oz rather than the 2-8 as stated on the blank. I would absolutely not want to throw anything over 5 oz. with this. Have yet to put a decent fish on it but we will see how well it performs long-term. TFO has a great warranty like St Croix, so i expect to have it for a long time.

Magnum Power actions are two times heavier than their corresponding power so "mag L" would be medium power.

Can I use the rod with a casting reel

1 Answer
Hi Nick. We do not recommend using a casting (conventional) reel with a spinning rod. The rods are not built to bend in that direction. Search the site for "Conventional Surf rods" to see rod options use connventional / casting reels.

What kind of warranty do these rods have
1 Answer
We have a 30 day return policy. The item has to be un-used and still in the original packaging it came in. All other warranties will have to go through G Loomis and you'll have to register the rod through them. This warranty will cover any manufacturer defects with the rod, itself.
