Eyelet problem
May 7, 2018
The rod looks great and I was looking forward to using it. On our first trip offshore with the rod, and on its first fish, the plastic insert inside the bottom eyelet popped off and got wound onto the reel. To save the fish, we cut the protector off of the line. (Fish was landed successfully.) I had hoped that Tackle Direct would just send me the plastic eyelet protector. I imagine it costs less than .05 cents to produce. Instead, they have asked me to return the rod which will require purchasing a shipping tube and paying many multiples of the cost of repair to return the rod.
Cons
  • See above.

A little stiff for bait rod, good for trolling.
June 15, 2017
I bought two of these to pair up with Avet reels and use for albacore live bait fishing. They are a little stiff for my preference, but they'll make great trolling rods for the same fish.

Wow!
December 20, 2015
I don't know who Tackle Direct is using to manufacture their new line of rods, but they have hit a home run with this one. This rod is very impressive, braid line ready, stout and overbuilt for battle with anything. I'm done buying rods for comparison in name recognition. I have changed my best conventional reel over to this rod. For performance, quality and especially the price, this new Tackle Direct rod works for me.
Pros
  • Heavy duty materials, construction, power, flexibility and affordability
Cons
  • none
