I use this for trolling for rockfish and spanish mackerel. We use #1 or #2 planers with 2 oz to 6 oz (total weight) tandem bucktails with soft shads and this rod performs very well.

Will this match the penn fathom 40nld with 65lb braid, for Jigging/livebaiting for bluefin?????

Hi David, The TackleDirect TDSSUT601MHSB Silver Hook Series Conventional Stand Up Rod is designed and intended for Trolling applications and would not be ideal for Jigging. Instead I would recommend a Star EXJC56XH Aerial Jigging Conventional Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/star-exjc56xh-aerial-jigging-rod.html This would be ideal for Jigging and Live bait fishing applications for targeting Bluefin tuna. Hi James, I would recommend a Star Rod EX3080RS Aerial Stand-up Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/star-rods-ex3080rs-aerial-stand-up-rod.html This has an equivalent line rating of 30-80lb Monofilament line and also comes with a Roller Stripper Guide and Tip guide for this model. While this rod may do the trick for landing these fish, but i think you would be more comfortable with a true jigging rod for these fish, Such as the SilverHook Conventional Jig rod or Daiwa Harrier X Jig, St Croix Mojo Jig
