excellent rod for purpose, good purchase

the reel sits low (shorter butt) which translates to excellent stand-up ergonomics if you like that you’ll love it. I do. Both action and power are spot on for me. Well built. No complaints

Great Value
June 21, 2016
Fished with this rod on a long range trip from San Diego and it was great. A bit short for fishing around lots of other anglers on a big boat but handled 25+ lb yellow tail without problems.
Pros
  • Price and quality
Cons
  • Preferred a longer rod.

what rod would you recommend for a 12/0 (116) senator
1 Answer
Connor,

To pair with the Penn Senator 116 you will need a rod with a uni-butt reel seat as the TDSSUT601HSB will not be tall enough.  The Star Handcrafted Standup rod B30/80HDSHC would work with the 116 for trolling.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

will a 12/0 (116) senator fit?
1 Answer
Connor,

The Penn Senator 116 will be to big for the TackleDirect Silver Hook TDSSUT601HSB reel seat.  Something like the Penn 113 or 114 would be a good fit.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
