Fished with this rod on a long range trip from San Diego and it was great. A bit short for fishing around lots of other anglers on a big boat but handled 25+ lb yellow tail without problems.

Bigtex, this rod does not have a lure rate as it is a standup conventional rod and was not designed to be casted. Best for trolling, chunking, and heavy bottom fishing applications. Please let us know if we can assist with anything else.

To pair with the Penn Senator 116 you will need a rod with a uni-butt reel seat as the TDSSUT601HSB will not be tall enough. The Star Handcrafted Standup rod B30/80HDSHC would work with the 116 for trolling. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
