Design flaw in my opinion
July 24, 2022
Just took it out for it's first use and found the last eye on the tip is larger than the next to last eye. This allows the 3/16s bullet slip weight to pass through and tie knots in the stranded line.

Compact rod for light tackle fishing
June 24, 2022
Got this rod for my freshwater light tackle and saltwater UL set up. Pairs well with the Penn Spinfisher VI 2500. The rod case it comes with is very sturdy and is padded at the ends with foam to protect the rod ends.

Perfect rod and travel case for flying. Purchased it specifically for a trip to Florida, no complaints and no problem carrying it on the plane.

Need a rod to stash in the carry-on and get some casts in while on the family vacation? This does the job and does it well.

Pulling a long weekend walking the sand in the Gulf for snook and reds? Been there, done that, and all with this rod.

No room in the car? Like to carry a rod for those - "Hey, there's a body of water that looks fishy" moments, this is it.

Save your money and buy something else!

I bought this because I was looking for an easily packable rod for a fishing trip to Cabo. Target species were Sierra Mackerel, Red Snapper and other like rockfish averaging 3-5#, using jigging, trolling and casting with cut bait. The second day out while jigging with a hoochie, the rod snapped just above the third eye from the tip. Also, the ferrules are not snug enough, and the rod sections won't stay in line, and constantly work themselves loose. The loose ferrules were mentioned in another person's review. I should have taken heed.
Pros
  • Has a nice travel case. (the only pro)
Cons
  • Ferrules are loose and sections won't stay aligned, or together.
  • Poor quality, rod snapped second day of use.

Bought the MH 3 piece rod for fishing on a trip to Marco island. I paired it with a 4000 reel and it performed flawlessly. Very impressed!

Great Inshore Rod!
March 1, 2022
So far, I have really enjoyed using this rod. It has the feel of a 1 piece and is very sensitive. I've caught jacks, bluefish, permit, whiting, and more! My only issue is it's not quite as strong as I thought it would be, which is technically my fault for not getting the MH instead of the M. Regardless a great rod overall and I would highly recommend it!
Pros
  • Sensitive
  • Includes Travel Case
Cons
  • Slightly underpowered

Great travel rod!
February 21, 2022
I picked up two of the medium heavy rods - just the rod for myself, and for my friend as a combo with the diawa saltist 3000 back bay. I paired mine with a tsunami saltx 4000 which is my all-around surf reel. No issues taking both of them on the plane to Roatan, Honduras. Both set-ups felt great and were quite comfortable for prolonged use casting around the inlets and flats for small cuda and bonefish. Haven't hooked up with anything that could pose a challenge yet, but I'm really looking forward to trying it out here in the Northeast once striper season opens. I live in NYC but do most of my fishing in Monmouth County, NJ - I'll be keeping this rod in my apartment as it's easy to toss in a cab or take on the subway for random weekend party boat fishing trips out of Sheepshead Bay.
Pros
  • light, versatile, rod pieces assemble great (snug fit, no issues with them coming apart while casting or not coming apart when disassembling)
Cons
  • none yet

Purchased one of these travel rods to pair with a Shimano IX4000R spinning reel for a Florida Keys trip. The rod handled well and landed some hard hitting Jack's. My son and I found a school near a bridge and the rod landed consecutive Jack's of various sizes! They gave the rod a beating and it held up. Also, the sections of the rod never separated. I was impressed with the rod. We loaded 20lb braid and 20lb floro top shot that was smooth casting for the rod. This was our light rig and we used it the most. It's a fun rod!
Pros
  • Handles well
  • Cork grips and sleek black rod look cool
  • Light
  • Rod stays fixed when properly constructed
Cons
  • Travel tube is a few inches longer than the rod after its broken down in the 3 sections. If your planning on packing it within checked luggage to avoid carry-on, you will need a suit case or travel bag 30" or longer in length.... food for thought.

Exactly what I needed
November 7, 2021
Upcoming trip to Eleuthera required a new rod, exactly what I needed. Was so nice it inspired me to get a new reel as I couldn’t put an old reel on such a nice rod. Thank you!

Took it to Hawaii
August 6, 2021
I am pleased with this rod. The case is solid and the components of the rod are of good quality. I paired it with a Daiwa Legalis 4000 C and it felt balanced and cast well off the reefs and rocks pitching lures in Kauai. The rod handled a 4ft Trumpet fish with no problem. Make sure the pieces of the rod are firmly in place before casting. This is true for any rod that comes in sections. I will take this rod with me next time I travel to Florida and put it through the paces there. For inshore fishing it works.
Pros
  • Portable and can handle inshore fish. Light. Good case.
Cons
  • Take care to ensure the sections are firmly in place.
