Assembled with Northeastern bottom fishermen in mind, the TackleDirect Silver Hook Low Profile Baitcasting Combos offer the all the benefits of low profile gear at a price that can't be beat. Over the last several years, the use of low-profile reels has become all the rage among Northeastern fluke and sea bass anglers. These reels offer sufficient fighting power, drag, and line capacity for the application, and are offered in a much smaller, more easily manageable size than most conventional or spinning reels. They are absolutely a pleasure to fish with! By pairing our Silver Hook Inshore Conventional Rod with the latest saltwater low profile baitcasters from top brands like Penn, Shimano, and Daiwa, it's never been easier and more affordable to make the switch. This 7 foot, medium-heavy power conventional rod is absolutely perfect for bottom bouncing bucktails over nearshore reefs or deep bottoms far offshore. Anglers can choose to pair their rod with a Shimano TranX 300, Daiwa Lexa-WN 300, or Penn Squall Low Profile 400, all available in both left and right hand retrieve. Not limited to just jigging and bottom fishing for doormat flounder, these baitcasting combos are also perfect for casting larger swimming plugs and topwaters to striped bass and blues, as well as a plethora of other applications in various fisheries.

These reels are amazing
July 25, 2022
I use this setup for Salmon. When not Salmon fishing I put this reel on a bottomfish jigging rod. A couple weeks ago, we landed a 109 pound Pacific Halibut with this reel. It never had a hiccup and far exceeded my expectation of its capabilities.
Pros
  • Small, light and a lot tougher than you would expect.
Cons
  • Not to report yet.
