I’ve got two other Penn Battle DX’s, so i knew what to expect with those. For the rods, this was new. I’ve got two heavy TDirect spinner/boat rods that are perfect especially for the price. These are also right in the sweet spot to throw some live bait or plugs for most inshore species…. And they can handle heavier fish as well. Pulled a red snapper up from 60 ft with one, just messing around.

I bought 2 of these combos and won’t be using them serious until June at Fort Morgan, Al. area. I’ll tell one thing now, these reels are built for the challenge and very smooth. Looking forward to some slot reds and speckled trout and anything else that wants to challenge this great combo. These combos with the medium heavy Silver hook rod will also be great for musky in Minnesota.
