TackleDirect Platinum Hook Conventional Kingfish Rods are high performance and the result of stringent ''on the water'' design and testing by some of the finest sport anglers around the world. TackleDirect Platinum Hook Conventional Kingfish Rods feature a durable E-glass blank with heavy duty Fuji SIN (Silicon Nitride) guides, allowing for multiple blistering runs that are commonplace when either kite fishing or slow trolling for kings. Platinum Hook Kingfish Rods feature a soft tip to ensure anglers do not pull hooks from the soft mouth of a king mackerel, while the strong backbone of the rod will allow you to get that true smoker king within gaff range quickly. Available in two models, a 20-50 and a 30-50 with an upgraded reel seat and a slightly stiffer construction, the Platinum Hook Kingfish Series offers a range of rods that are capable of handling the meanest king mackerel around, whether you are fishing out in the gulf off of Mississippi, Florida, or the Carolinas.

Quality rod

Very happy with my purchase of the TD Kingfish rod, 20-50-lb. It has a heavy butt for horsing a fish when needed at the boat, and the soft tip still protects knots and light line. The 7' length doesn't give up leverage like a shorter rod would. I'm fishing 30-lb braid and trust the Fuji guides with the small diameter braid. The rod uses quality components throughout - the grips are Great. A lot of rod for the price.
Pros
  • quality Fuji components, best guides for braid, excellent grips, beautiful finish

Haven't used it yet, but looks to be a good multipurpose rod for light trolling, bottom fishing, and drifting.

Very well made. Unique to get a this much power (up 35# drag is no problem) with a very telling soft tip. At this price with Sic guides +++
Pros
  • Strong, responsive and high quality components. Also I really like the oversize foregrip.
