Is it necessary to fish a Shark Rig (wire leader) for sand sharks on the NJ shore?

Hi Frank, When fishing for sandsharks you do not need to use wire leader but all other species you would definitely need to use wire leader to prevent breakoffs. I would recommend a Tackle Crafters BlacktipH BTHSR Shark Rig. https://www.tackledirect.com/tackle-crafters-bthsr-blacktiph-shark-rig.html This can be casted from shore or kayak paddled out and dropped to the bottom and would be ideal for both your shore shark fishing applications.
