The first version of this lure became popular in the Cape during the early 80's. This needlefish lure slips through the wind for very long casts. It is a legendary lure for producing cows when sandeels and thin baits are present.

Casts easy in tough conditions

This long thin pencil casts just as far as the stubby version. I choose the profile depending on the surf area, bait and water conditions. Both have no issues in windy nor rough surf. Worth the price paid good quality thru-out.

Got this in the 1oz and it flies for its size. Definitely catches too. I put inlines on it instead as well

Best casting Needlefish lure on the market.
I like to fish these the same way as I fish bucktails. Low and slow with a twitch once in a while.

Great thing about these is that depending on the retreive speed you can fish these at any height in the water column.

Great lure.

I tend to take off the rear siwash because larger stripers tend to inhale the whole plug and take the rear hook deep.

Pros
  • Casting Distance
  • Durability
  • Color variety

Great casting lure. If you have 20 knots in your face, this lure cuts through the wind.. on the open beach great to work on bottom but rocks areas better to be on the surface..out of all the plugs this plug is the easiest to learn to utilize... a slow retrieve, with a little twitch every 3 cranks.
Pros
  • Casts a mile
  • Easy retrieve

Do you directly tie this lure on the line or should you use a snap swivel or just a snap?
1 Answer
For best results I would use a TA clip or a variation of a loop knot.

What sinks faster the 6" 2 3/8 oz or 7" 3 0z needle fish? Thank you
1 Answer
The sink rate is probably very similar given the Length and weight profiles. The 3oz would still sink faster still though
