Through the use of unique, high-pressure production techniques, each Tsunami Airwave rod delivers strong powerful high-fiber density blanks with no excess weight. The result is a stronger, more powerful, lighter weight, high performance rod for inshore fishing. All-day casting no longer means sore arms and a tired angler because light weight is part of every Airwave rod design from the high-density blank to the Fuji Concept Alconite guides used on the inshore models. Tough, smooth braid proof guides are used on the Surf series and the Grade A cork or durable, textured vinyl grips.

The high-fiber density blanks provide extreme sensitivity and more resilience to transmit more power to each cast. That means more distance and accuracy with less effort. If your arms are tired after a day of fishing with Airwave rods...its just means you caught more fish!
  • Lighter, stronger more powerful
  • High Fiber Density blank Construction
  • Increased Sensitivity
  • Improved Casting
  • Fuji Graphite Reel Seat
  • Tough, Durable, Textured Vinyl Grips on Surf Models

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

Great Fishing Rod!
July 29, 2022
I've had the chance to use this Fishing Rod several times now and am extremely pleased.
This replaced my ancient Abu Garcia Surf Casting rod that had been my favorite for years.
The best part of my purchase was the price. I think I got more than my money's worth.

Thank you, Tackle Direct for an easy-to-navigate and straightforward website and an Excellent selection!

Only surf rods I deal with
May 6, 2020
Have 3 of these and had one broken due to closing my trunk on it. These rods are light, cast a mile if you know how and strong. Have caught everything from redfish, bluefish, mackerels, pompanos and even croakers on these. Do yourself a favor and dont go cheap and go with these!

Great casting rod however I have broke two of them casting a 3 ounce weight with small bait and 30 lb braid. Pole is definitely over rated. Tsunami has replaced one for free so far.
Pros
  • Casts long distance with ease.
Cons
  • Way over rated pole.

TSAWSS-1102H - Excellent Rod for the Price
June 13, 2019
I have paired it with Ultegra 5500. What a beautiful combo. Extremely light. Excellent to fish with bunker. I haven't tried plugging with it yet but it seems promising. For the money, it makes such an excellent beginner / backup rod.
Pros
  • Not expensive
  • Light but Strong.
Cons
  • None

Better than G.Loomis
March 13, 2019
G.Loomis is $600. Tsunami is $140. If I have all the money in the world I'd still pick Tsunami. It's LIGHTER, cheaper, better look, feels great. I fish for Stripbass 10-30 fish and these are best I found

Its very light compare to other 12', however it doesnt cast as far, and for $150 rod i expected the guides could be a little bit better, they scratch easily

Snapped in half.
April 14, 2018
I had this rod in Nantucket and on my first cast, it snapped below the first eye. The rod looked great and felt solid, but that "lighter than air technology" did not hold up. I must have got a lemon so I won't give it 1 star. I emailed Tsunami and they never responded.
Pros
  • Looks cool
  • lightweight
Cons
  • Got a lemon I guess
  • The companies customer service is non-existent

What's the weight of the 702M rod? Is it good for light inshore jigging?
1 Answer
This rod weights 7.8oz, although this is designed to be a land based light surf fighting rod, I don't see why it wouldn't do the trick for any inshore applications as well
