Weak Breaking Point
June 17, 2014
Went to a tackle shop to load this 20lb braid to my 3000 reel. Was surprised to see it rather thin, a bit too thin for my comfort. I made an end knot and slipped it through a pen, which I then used to pull the line. The braid line broke rather quickly. I then tested it on another brand but 10lb braid that I had, which looked thicker than this 832. The 10lb braid broke after much difficulty. By brute force comparison, I was rather disappointed that 832 broke much easier although it was 2x stronger at 20lb.

I have 30 & 40 lb 832 that I intend to try out for strength over the next few days. Hopefully I had a bad batch ... otherwise, 832 is not up to spec.
Pros
  • Thin, smooth and camo coloured.
Cons
  • Weaker than another 10lb braid line. Not a scientific test but I stand by it.
