Quality Jacket - Boat & Surfcasting

I bought this jacket a few seasons ago and have been impressed by the quality of the jacket. I've used both on party boats for Tautog in December & January (Northeast). As well as Fall surfcasting on sandbars and the beach in NJ (November & December). The coat is warm enough when layer with a base layer and an additional layer for warmth (usually) a hoodie. When this one finally wears out I would not hesitate to repurchase another one, already a few years old and still going strong.

Excellent Jacket for Fall and Winter Fishing

I picked this jacket up recently as an early gift. I've had the opportunity to use it a few times and can say that I am very happy with the purchase. The fit is good and true to size. I'm a big person and the XXL fits well. On each outing, this was my outer layer and I was protected from wind, spray and whatever was coming that day. The inside pocket is good for stowing away keys, phone or other valuables that you don't want exposed. After each outing I was a bit warm which caused some perspiration, but will continue to modify base layers to get everything right.

After waiting 1 month to try this jacket on a rainy day, I'm really disappointed and frustrated. The material is neither water or windproof. One hour under the rain and it is completely soaked. I believe the great reviews it has received are fake and for the results this jacket is way overpriced

Bought this jacket for winter fishing in NJ. Jacket quality has been excellent so far, seems like quality materials and zippers are used so should last a long time. Keeps you warm and dry. I'm 5'9'' 200 lbs so I bought a Large based on some other reviews that said the jacket seemed to run big. When I received the jacket fit ok with a t-shirt on but no way I was layering it with a sweatshirt or anything. Wound up exchanging it in store for an XL and fits great over a hoodie. Staff in store were great people and made my exchange easy.

Finally, after years of hunting for a good rainwear jacket, I purchased the Stormr Typhoon. Folks, this is an EXCELLENT jacket. I absolutely love it. First, great fit, flexible and easy to move in, warm, and not bulky like others. All my others went in the storage locker. The sizing is as referenced, I'm 5'11 and 205 and the Large fits great with room to spare. Now I need to get the bibs to match.

This jacket keeps you warm and dry when wading on the river and especially when the weather gets tough. The Typhoon is well made and the zippers are waterproof and you have pockets that will keep your hands warm. I recommend this jacket for any outdoorsman in the elements and it’s is quiet when I go bow hunting I will be using it under my camo sweat shirt on these rainy days.

I'm 6'0", 230 lbs. I squeeze into 38" waist pants. I haven't seen my belt in years. I ordered the XL based on other reviews. I have plenty of room even wearing a sweat shirt. I wore this outside working around the yard to test. Temp was 30F with no wind, kept me warm enough to work. Have room inside to add another layer of clothing.

Is there a need to re-charge the waterproof finish? Some other products repellency wears off after extended use or a few months? Does Storm prefer a certain re-charge product?

Here are the care instructions from the Stormr website. As for re-applying waterproofing, we do not know. We suggest contacting Stormr at 877-222-0347.
Care of this jacket is unlike normal jackets. Do not machine wash. Do not dry in dryer. Do not dry clean. Use only fresh water and a mild liquid detergent. For highly soiled areas, a soft non-abrasive brush may be used. Hang dry in a shaded area. Care for these products is similar to that of a wetsuit.
Close all zippers and pockets, release tension to all elastic draw cords. Hand wash or machine wash in cold and gentle cycle using mild liquid detergent. Do not use fabric softener, conditioners, stain removers or bleach. Hang dry or tumble dry in warm, gentle cycle, remove immediately. Do not dry clean. If needed, iron (warm, no steam) by placing a cloth between iron and garment.

You can wear thin synthetic layers under it. It is extremely warm. The new model is cut a little differently than the original.
