Live Bait Conventional
December 14, 2020
This is the first Aerial live bait rod I have tried. I have it paired with a Tiburon/Cortez Conversions Jigmaster 500. Good solid rod with a soft tip. Price point is good. I use it for live eels striper fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. Will be ordering two more.

Great king fish rod
February 2, 2020
I use it to drift live bait from the boat. I fish braid. This rod helps a lot with the shock of a hard hitting pelagic fish. With braid I was losing fish with a stiffer tip rod. Don’t t worry, this rod has plenty of back bone to handle Cobia and 40lb barracuda in my experience. The aerial livebait rod is a great rod. I have also handled a six foot shark on it. Will defiantly buy a star rod again
I have a diawa sealine 40 on it
Pros
  • Helps keep fish hooked with braid line when they hit bait or shake
  • Plenty of back bone
  • Durable
  • Best there is for $70.00
Cons
  • More expensive rods are lighter but that more money
  • And I don’t hold it all day. It stays in the rod holder Until a fish hits

Great all around rod!

The length and action on this rod are perfect for what I was looking for. Stout back bone, but still enough sensitivity in the tip to feel bites.

good mahi rod
January 2, 2017
These have nice soft tips and a little more backbone than my other 15-30lb mahi spin rods. Makes the little guys more fun and can still lean on the bigger fish, the glass is tough and no micro cracking sounds ever when flexing, perfect for 20lb mono. They'll pull ballyhoo or an inline multi squid daisy chain.
I even have 2 with braid that I use for a rapala magnum down below and small purple feather for blackfin way back.
That's my 4 way troll with these rods and they do good.
Pros
  • solid glass feel and durable.
Cons
  • none really, you can spend more and get higher end component, but I'm a fan of e-glass rods when trolling and always have these in the spread. Save your $$$ for inshore babies.

Great Rod for the Money
October 8, 2015
I use this rod for live bait kingfishing. This rod has a very soft tip but plenty of power to turn a smoker kingfish. I have had no issues with any of the rods I have owned. We fish tournaments and own six of the Aerial live bait rods. The rod components are great quality and the blanks are extremely durable. It is similar to the ugly stick but with better guides. It's an all around great rod. Excellent value.

Greatbrod for an even better price.
May 17, 2015
The rod is much beefier than I imagined. I puchased it for a Abu Garcia 10000 big game reel. Purchase is always a breeze, and arrives ideally before posted date.
Pros
  • Well built, beefy rod. Wrap is very clean and it is a good looking rod
Cons
  • None I can see

Grouper rod

This is one of the better rods I use for grouper and it holds up great. Lots of backbone to rip grouper out of their holes

How is this rod different from the Star Rods Fishing Aerial EX-120 Medium Action 7'
1 Answer
The difference, according to the Star rod website, is in the construction of the blanks. The Live bait rods are made of e-glass, while the EX-120 Inshore rod is a graphite composite.
