I haven't gotten to use it enough to speak to it's durability, but it seems to be very well made and smooth.

Great Surf Reel
March 29, 2018
I used it on the Texas coast last weekend and it held up. I was surf fishing with a 9ft. Rod and using a 4oz. weight. I was impressed how smooth the retrieve was. It seems like it is going to last a long time. Seems tough and durable.
Pros
  • The handle has a large knob.
  • The retrieve is smooth.
  • Was great for surf fishing.
Cons
  • Bulky

Hi The specifications details have not much informations. What is the weight on both model 6000 and 8000? What is the drag on both of them ? Are they for saltwater ? Are they waterproof?
1 Answer
The Star Ariel reels are for fishing in saltwater and they are not waterproof. Specs such as max drag and weight can only be calculated for the 6000 because the 8000 is out of stock at this time.
