Saltwater angling is tough on gear. The sea is tough, the salt is tough, the fish are tough. So is the Delux series of Star Rods. Made with premium E-glass, Star Delux rods will take the pounding the sport hands out. Their shock-absorbing action helps keep the pressure on the fish ? not on you.

Delux series rods are available for casting, live bait, bottom fishing, jigging, trolling and more. Some Delux series rods also feature PowerButt. Each rod has a limited lifetime warranty.

Would this rod be good for pier fishing ?
1 Answer
Hi Diego, The Star Delux Wire Line Trolling Rod is mean't for trolling bunker spoons for Striped Bass. Depending on your fishing applications, I would recommend a Star VPR Surf Spinning Rod. Specificially Model: VS1225S106; TackleDirect Code: STA-0405. https://www.tackledirect.com/star-rods-vs1225s106-vpr-surf-spinning-rod.html. This rod is longer in length and can throw small to medium sized baits. This would be more ideal for pier fishing. If you tell us what you are fishing for and where we can help narrow down your rod selection. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

How would this rod stack up against an 8' Tony Maja for bunker spoons?
1 Answer
John,

The Star Delux Wire Line Trolling rod DLX80WL is a little stiffer in the tip section than the Tony Maja Bunker Spoon rod.  But will work just fine for trolling bunker spoons using wire line.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

I am interested in purchasing a wire line rod and reel. Looking for recommendations for a beginner. Also do you spool the reel with the proper line. Thank you for your time, Eric
1 Answer
This is a good rod to start with. You can match the rod up with a Penn Senator 113H2SP, or a Shimano Tekota 700. We spool any line you order for free. Monofilament is free, anything else you would need to purchase the spool.

What is the cost of the PEnn 113 HSP with wire line spool
1 Answer
It depends on what kind of wire line you would like to purchase with the rod, and how many feet you need. Here is a list of prices for our most popular selling wire line.... the prices vary. https://www.tackledirect.com/tony-maja-ultra-soft-monel-trolling-wire.html

Can this rod fit a 14/0 Penn Senator reel?
1 Answer
The Star Delux (DLX80WL) will be too small for the Senator 117. The Senator 113 is ideal for this rod.
