Great Rod for Trips!
April 15, 2021
I've talked about getting a packable spinning rod to take along on business trips for years, but for some reason, it always fell to the bottom of my "wish list". With a trip to Maine on the horizon, I finally decided to "pull the trigger". I went with a light-action Triumph Travel spinning rod as I wanted an all-purpose outfit. It's a bit heavier than I would prefer for trout, but again, I wanted an all-purpose outfit. The lower is section is a bit heavy, but overall, it's a very nice rod. The rod's one shortcoming is the roll-up fabric case. Although it's padded, I wouldn't trust it to keep my rod safe on a trip. Plan on replacing it with a rod tube.

I own a 6'6" medium light and couldn't be more please. I have taken this rod on trips to Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Belize and many other countries. Really easy to pack, well balance and smooth casts.
Pros
  • Great quality, good price, back by St. Croix

Great rods
March 22, 2020
I have a heavy and medium rod. I'd like to say best bang for the buck but that would do these rods injustice as they are just great. I inshore fish with these rods. This past trip to the Tampa area landed a MONSTER snook on the medium outfit. The heavy rod is under gunned for tarpon bridge fishing mullet - but it works, much better suited tossing smaller baits beach side for poons. Both these rods can cast, have excellent feel and strong butt section- highly recommend. Also never had an issue carry on flights. I would love for St. Croix to make a really heavy version of this rod for sharking or bridge tarpon fishing.
