Best surf rod.
September 6, 2020
I bought this rod because my st crox mojo surf casting rod was tireing me out after 4 hours of casting on the surf. With this rod I can cast for 6 hours. It also helps me cast the 3/4 oz to 2oz lures a lot farther than any of the other rods I own. It has a sensitive tip and a strong back, great rod.
Pros
  • I own more expensive rods that this one but this one is the best. Sensitive yet strong and it casts like a champ. Thanks to st crox for building such a high performance rod.
Cons
  • I'm going to have to replace all my other rods with st. Croix Triumphs!

Find something bad, I dare you!

Its almost impossible to say something bad about a St Croix rod, and this isn't an exception. The Triumph Surf is one of my favorite rods to use on the beach. Its great for days when I can get out into the water and don't need a 12 footer, and I can get the lure on target with a 9 footer with tremendous casting power. I can cast almost any jig in my arsenal with pinpoint accuracy. A go to for sure!

Great surf rid

I have both the triumph and avid. Both products are outstanding in the surf and can withstand almost anything. St croix stands behind their products unlike many other Rod manufacturers.
Pros
  • Durability, performance, sensitivity

St. Croix TSRS100M2 Triumph Surf Rod
October 27, 2016
I was really excited to own and fish with this new Saint Croix Triumph Surf rod. Unfortunately on my first trip out the rod failed by breaking on the upper section just above where the two halves connect. The rod is rated from 3/4oz - 4oz. I was at Fort Baker, CA just on the North side of the Golden Gate Bridge. The conditions were a storm past the night before and a new one approaching. The winds out of the West at 20-25 mph with light rain and 8 to 11 feet of surf. That why I chose the Bay side instead of the beach. The first cast Lingcod! 3rd cast Rockcod! I'm doing great. The wind at my back while fishing from a rocky point the sweep was moving to my right at a strong pace. So I went up for using a 2oz sinker to a 3oz sinker rigged Carolina style. Boom, my new toy broke on the 2nd or 3rd cast. Probably a factory defect. I decided to replace with a Lamiglas. Yet to see how the new Lami will work out.
Pros
  • Light weight, responsive.
Cons
  • Not sure if this break above where the two halves join is an outlier or a common defect.

Great Inexpensive Rod
October 26, 2016
I was looking for a rod with a little more backbone to use with heavier lures in open beach spots. This has met that need perfectly allowing me to get the distance I was looking for when using heavy 2-3 Oz bucktails and Superstrike lures. The rod is very well made and relatively inexpensive compared to the higher end make and models. I would highly recommend this rod to anyone looking for an all around durable and versatile surf rod not looking to spend a ton of money. It's not the best rod if a majority of the lures you use are on the lighter side (1/2 Oz- 1 Oz range) but this 10 ft model will certainly get the job done and still does nicely when using SP minnows and swim shads. I would recommend the 9 ft model if you primarily use lures around or under 1 Oz. Have caught numerous bass so far with this rod this fall and has handle them with ease. I do find it tough / use a lot of energy to work a pencil popper with properly. The distance from my reel to the butt of the rod is a little long for my liking but once I got use to it I don't notice it anymore.
Pros
  • Great price
  • Can really launch lures in the 1-1/2 Oz - 3 Oz range
  • No problem handling bigger fish
Cons
  • Not great when casting lures 1 Oz or less
  • Tough to work pencil poppers with
  • Length between reel and rod butt

Good back bay rod
August 4, 2016
I like to use this for small bucktails, small plugs, redfins, bombers/SP's, and its capable of tossing a 2 3/8 popper if need be. I love it.
Paired with an SSV4500, its great.

This rod is perfect for Montauk and its pretty cheap too. Tons of power to stop a big fish and its able to handle those bigger 3oz plugs. I love mine.

una caña ligera, resistente y confiable
July 7, 2015
Cons
  • ninguno
