Picked one up last year, never had such a quality rod. Use for freshwater bass in the Northeast. Caught some great fish on it, throwing spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, texas rigs, swimjigs, even drop shots. Super sensitive, but super strong. Dragged some big ones out the weeds with it. Great all-around rod.

What isn’t there to say about a St. Croix rod? I own the 8 footer MH I use for tarpon on the beach. It’s light strong and durable. Ive had it for 12 yrs. and it’s still going strong. Better yet, its a st croix and backed by their legendary warranty and customer support. If you don’t know about how these guys back their rods, look it up. Best in the business. Most of their higher end models are made right here in the USA also. What more do you want?

Paied this rod with a 4000 stratic for inshore fishing and it is a great combo. Good for trout, rockfish, flounder, puppy drum, and sheepshead. Rod is sensitive enough to feel the bite and plenty of backbone to bring in the big one!

I love the Tidewater series! Not only are they affordable but they are great inshore rods. I have 3 of them and use them for stripers, blues, albies, blackfish and other bottom fishing species. To me they are the perfect all around inshore rod.

Fantastic light rod for casting small lures, using it often for sight casting to flats feeders and couldn't be happier. Light to carry, casts very well and plenty of backbone for larger fish.

Very high quality. I compared this rod to St Croix Avid inshore models and decided I liked Tidemaster better. Light weight and has a nice soft action, compared to my St Croix 7' MH Premier.

Paired this with regular shimano Stradic, 15# fins windtamer, 25 # leader and throw jerkbaits up into Georgia marsh grass and crush the reds. 7 foot 6 inch mh fast. Too heavy for the light jigs I throw for trout but perfect for a big weighted jerk bait. I have also used it with a weighted popping cork. It has a little too stiff action for my liking for the popping cork. Medium fast would probably work better for my style.

I have three of these rods primarily for casting for schooling stripers and shallow water casting. I've caught small perch to 23" stripers with this rod. It's a tough rod and has great sensitivity.
Pros
- I don't have to worry about a broken tip while hooking up with a 10 or 15 lb striper.
Cons
- Expensive. I've found some custom rods for less money but I am not sure if they are as good.

I use these for inshore Reds, Flounder and anything else that may bite. I also throw them at a pond across the street from my house for bass when I can’t get out in the saltwater. Probably won’t ever buy anything other than the Tidemaster again.

Your going to want a rod that has a bit more backbone like the St. Croix TIS76HF Tidemaster Inshore Spinning Rod. That rod would match well for the application your using the setup for.

Either the medium or medium-heavy rod would be appropriate for your application. I personally would go with a medium because you could get away with using the 1 oz. bucktail more-so than you would the 3/8oz jig heads with the medium heavy. I'd suggest either a 7' or 7'6" rod for casting from shore, and a 6'6" or 7' rod for jigging/casting from a boat.

A Nasci 4000 would pair perfectly with either rod. I would select the appropriate rod by determining how heavy the lures you will be casting are and select the rod that falls within that range.

Wanting to purchase a good saltwater spinning rod and reel to do surf fishing from the shore. I like the St. Croix Tidemaster and am not sure between the stradic 4000 or penn battle II 4000 models reels. PLease advise set up you would recommend along with type of line. For a light shore setup I would recommend a Tidemaster with a Shimano Stradic 5000. It is the same size as the 4000 with just a slightly larger spool. I would put 20lb braid on it.

If you are looking to be primarily casting and fishing with lures, a good rod to pair this reel with would be a Penn Legion Inshore Rod. As we get deeper into the fall bigger bass are going to begin to hold around the rt.52 bridge into Ocean City. I would go with the TIS70MHF. This rod has the power to handle fish around structure but an action capable of throwing lighter jig heads and plugs when need be. If you like throwing heavier shad type baits greater than 1oz than the TIS70HF will be the better rod for you though.
