I bought this rod for my sister to give a musky a go when we are out as she is not comfortable with a baitcaster. Its a MH rod that is perfect for smaller blades and up to double 7's. I paired this rod with Shimano Socorro 5000 reel. Reel has a big knob handle and a slow ratio resulting in ~30"/turn and that spooled with 40lb braid is a KILLER and easy to use setup. Build quality as to be expected from Croix - top notch. Oh, and I always loved Premier series looks, timeless classic.

I am considering pairing this rod with my Shimano Saragossa 6000 reel for inshore striped bass fishing in NH. Due to tides and currents, we usually need heavier lures  and jigs. Also, is this rod  good for fishing top water plugs?

Traditionally 8 foot rods are used for top water popping rods. The 6000 would pair well with it.
