The St. Croix Mojo Yak is the newest model in the extremely popular Mojo family of rods. With the popularity of kayak fishing absolutely exploding, St. Croix has decided that it is time someone provide the hardcore kayak angler with a rod tailor made to fit their needs. These rods are designed to provide anglers with both the durability to perform in the unforgiving kayak angling environment, and the functionality necessary for those close quarters fishing scenarios. Because rod components making contact with rock hard kayak hulls is almost inevitable, the Mojo Yak features rugged Kigan Master Hand 3D guides with aluminum-oxide rings. These highly durable guides are less likely to lose their inserts when being knocked around a bit. St. Croix has teamed up with Winn Grips to make a handle system that provides anglers with soft, tacky, comfortable rod handles that particularly excel when your gear gets wet, another unavoidable reality of kayak angling. Not only are the Winn Grip handles comfortable, the shorter butt end on these rods make for easier maneuverability when fishing from a sitting position. These plus other features standard to the Mojo family of rods make the Mojo Yak an option that kayak fisherman simply cannot ignore.

Sweet rod

I’m n?w to kayak fishing and when I saw this “Yak” spinning rod it seemed like a good idea so I purchased it. After fishing with it several times I feel that the rod itself could be used in any situation. It does very well from the seated position in a kayak but this rod would work well for any fisherman standing in a boat, wading or on the bank. I’m am very IMO with the quality of the rod. This is my first St. Croix rod and I have always heard this company made excellent fishing rods, now I know just how true that is. The blank is beautiful and the guides and handle are very high quality. I own several G Loomis casting and spinning rods , I my opinion the St. Croix are equal in quality and dollar for dollar a better purchase.
Pros
  • Quality materials
  • Great looking
  • Ergonomically designed
  • Light weight

Awesome Rod..! My new Favorite..

I bought this Rod because I it was Very lite and had a great feel to it as soon as I picked it up. I paired it up with the Penn Conflict 2 2500 which is also pretty lite and spooled up with 40 lb. power pro it only weighs 12.5 oz. As soon I fished with it I fell in love. It is very sensitive, you can feel every little touch your bait makes. I bought the 7' Medium and will be buying more and some Medium Heavy also. I have always used Ugly Sticks and loved them, but I will be swapping out soon. The shorter handle and the Winn grips are very Comfortable and a pleasure to cast all day. first day out caught a nice little stripper and a bunch of big catfish on a crank bait and it handled them well.
Pros
  • Very Lite, Winn grips are comfortable. shorter handle it great for kayak fishing.

It was like Christmas day taking this rod out of the shipping tube. Oh, my what a beautiful rod.
I can not wait for my new reel to show up and slap it on. I can not wait to try it out. If it works as good as it looks, I'm buying another one,
Pros
  • Feels like a feather in your hand and you get a free hat.
Cons
  • A little pricey, but if it functions like it looks, its worth it.
