This rod can handle any beating you throw at it. Fishes all lures with very dynamic response. Only con would be after a couple full days fishing your ribs might get a little sore from constant thrash against the butt of the rod where the cork has been removed. All in all, this isnt a huge problem as you most likely will by layered up when fishing. Try it out!

For the money these rods are the best in my opinion. Lots of power in the 8' 6" xh. I use it for mag dawgs and super model Bucktails mainly. Have it paired with a revo toro reel and man its a sweet set up. No need to spend 300+ on a musky rod!
Pros
  • Plenty of power
  • Casts great
  • Split grip
Cons
  • A bit heavy

Power to spare. Oversized top guide nice. Sad that only has 5 yr manufacturers warranty. I miss the days when st croix was a better company.

I was wondering if this rod would be a good pairing with the TOR16HGA. I would targeting snook, red, tarpon, etc.
1 Answer
Yes, this rod will work and pair well with that reel.
