St. Croix Legend Surf Rods are newly redesigned. These rods feature high-modulus/high strain SCIV graphite with FRS for strength and longevity. The Fuji Torzite RV K-Series surf guides with titanium frames on these rods provide for 100% corrosion-proof performance. Torzite is the first ceramic created to be a guide ring, and is stronger, lighter, and five times less abrasive than Fuji SiC. The custom neoprene handle on these rods provides comfort and longevity. The positive grip improves when wet. These rods are for the extreme surf angler, providing the extreme surf fishing performance you expect.

  • Integrated Poly Curve (IPC) tooling technology.
  • Advanced Reinforcing Technology (ART).
  • Off-set, slim-profile ferrules on two-piece models provide one-piece performance.
  • Fuji Torzite surf top with flanged ring for greatly reduced line friction
  • Fuji DPS reel seat with exclusive E-finish hoods.
  • Two coats of Flex Coat slow-cure finish.
  • 15-year transferable warranty backed by St. Croix Superstar Service.

Saint Croix Legend Surf Rod 1-6oz 10/6
June 20, 2019
I purchased the 1-4 10/6 Legend and can't be happier with this product. What a rod! Pared it
with a Saltiga Expedition 5500h loaded with almost 500 yards 40lb braid. When casting, I have
other fishermen freeze in their tracks! This rod literally sends lures to the moon! Rod is very light,
so casting for long sessions is no issue. St. Croix offers the best warranty in the entire rod
industry, so it's a no brainer to spend the big $$ on their products, knowing that if any issues
whatsoever, your expensive rod will be replaced promptly! Can't ask for anything better, IMHO.
Pros
  • Great packaging and prompt delivery by Tackledirect
  • Excellent build quality
  • Very light weight
  • Easy to handle, cast, and work lures
  • Best warranty in the rod industry
  • MADE IN THE USA!

Sweet spot ranges from about 1 oz to 2 3/8 oz, but throws 3/4 oz bucktails very well. I also throw 2 3/4 oz super strikes on the high end, but I honestly think it stops feeling perfect after 2 3/8 oz. I do not throw 3 oz or more with this. Works pencil poppers very, very well, actually my go-to rod for this purpose. An extremely quality rod, American-made, very lightweight, and good-looking. The reel seat is solid, and I love the grip, probably one of my favorite features on this rod. I would definitely recommend to a friend, and would definitely buy again.

I was look for a back bay rod and a rock jetty inlet rod. At first I couldn't find one that was strong enough to lift a 20 lb bsss off the rocks and soft enough with a fast action tip to cast a bomber for the back bay. Then I called Tackle Direct and spoke to one of the guys there. He said look at the St. Croix Legend. Wow!!! What a great rod and I save the expense of buying two rods.
Pros
  • Strong enough to cast 3 oz. plugs land land monster bass.
Cons
  • Rod is soft enough to cast 2 oz bombers.

Best rod ever
June 12, 2016
I've sold my previous Legend to get this one & I don't regret one bit! This rod casts like a dream! No effort needed. I've had a handful of my buddies test cast my rod & boy did it blew their minds. First thing that came out of their mouth were how light the rod is. I have this paired up with a Daiwa Saltiga Expedition 5500H. Get this rod, you won't regret it!
Pros
  • Cast a mile, light weight, torzite, & comfortable grip!
Cons

Legend Surf Upgrades Done Right
March 30, 2016
I have both the previous generation and these new models. I had an email conversation with a St. Croix rep and the blank material is the same on both generations. However, there were some minor tweaks done to this new generation for better performance. What they are, I have absolutely no idea and the rep couldn't elaborate more. The upgrade to titanium torzite guide systems makes this rod more durable and should improve casting as well. The foregrip does feel a little more comfortable.

Hi, I have the previous version of this rod, the St. Croix LSS120MHMF2. It's a great rod. I'm assuming though that the characteristics of the LSS120MHMF2 and the LGSS120MHMF2 are very similar. As great as these rods are, I'd like a longer rod, but with similar characteristics to the St. Croix LGSS120MHMF2, i.e.: the MH/MF and 16.2oz weight. So what do you have with MH / MF characteristics which is 15' long and 20.5 oz or less? I'm also thinking a M / MF might be Ok too. What do you have, St Croix or other, that meet or exceeds the characteristics outlined above? Thanks, Ben

The only rods we are able to get that are close to the 15 foot mark in the caliber of rod you are looking for would be the Phenix Black Diamond Surf Rods model number SX-1408-2-spin, and the Daiwa Tournament Ballistic Surf Rods in the 13' 3" lengths. The only 15 foot rods we have would be the Daiwa Sealine SLSA1503MHFS and the Okuma Tundra Pro TXP-S-702M.
