Is this a good choice for fishing at the saltwater fishing pier ? Just started fishing got a Stella 5000 on hand looking for a good rod to pair it with,

And if cast properly whats the avg range I will get out of it with the 7 feet ? I already placed the order for SCR-2060 Stcroix XSS70MHF 7ft Legend Xtreme, so far its backorder not yet shipped thinking should I switch to 7.6 feet for a long cast ? Or that .6 doesnt make a huge difference?

Thanks!

Hi Alan, The St. Croix XSS70MHF Legend Xtreme Inshore Spinning Rod can be used off a Saltwater Pier. You can throw lures from 1/2 oz to 1-1/4oz. With the right technique and lure you could achieve a long cast. However distance is variable depending on conditions. You could achieve a 30 yard cast with the right lure and conditions. The 7'6" rod will give you more distance than the 7ft rod but the distance is negligible. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines

Is this the new version of the legend xtreme inshore? And how does it compare to the g-loomis nrx in terms of sensitivity?
1 Answer
Adrian,

St Croix will probably be slightly more sensitive, GLoomis will typically have a little softer action and more forgiving than the St Croix legend xtreme for the same rating. Both great rods, but between those two I would recommend the NRX. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

How would the VR50 with 20# braid pair with the 7’ MH and the 7’6” M? Would you prefer that or the stradic 4000 with 20# braid and what rod?
1 Answer
The VR50 would pair well with either of these rods and would. the rating of the rod depends on what you typically target and what you throw when targeting these fish. In general you cannot go wrong with either rod.

The only advantage the Stradic would give you is its light weight frame, a great all around inshore reel this Stradic is one of my top recommendations. The van staal will offer fully sealed reel great for the surf and wade fishing

Im interested in the medium heavy with a stella 4000 sw. But is the rod with the ags guides that much better than the titanium?
1 Answer
So the AGS guides are claimed to be one of the lightest, strongest guides on the market, so they are much better. However there it nothing wrong with the Titanium guides and they too will certainly hold up to the test of time.

Either way this rod would make a dreamy pairing with the Stella 4000, super strong, light weight rod to handle anything that swims inshore

Will the 7ft Inshore pair well with the VSX150 (12oz) reel?
1 Answer
I would advise against this pairing, while this is an awesome well built rod I think that a VSX150 would be way overkill for this rod and not balance very well.

Depending on what you're fishing for I would pair this rod with a Shimano Stradic 4000 or Daiwa Ballistic 4000 for a very light weight well balanced versatile rod
