Designed to give bass anglers an edge on the water at an exceptional value, the St. Croix Bass X Casting Rods prove that quality gear is still available at a fair price. The Bass X is handcrafted on blanks built from St. Croix's SCII carbon material, which is the most durable they have. This material provides superior strength and resistance to micro-fractures that lead to breakage, but retains enough sensitivity for even the most finesse oriented techniques where bite detection is key. This versatile series contains everything from workhorse models to fish the majority of your bait arsenal, to specialized models purpose built for niche techniques like dropshotting all the way up to magnum swimbait fishing. This second generation of Bass X Rods is reimagined with features including carbon fiber reel seat inserts on select models, a hybrid guide platform, and technique specific handle configurations. This budget friendly bass rod series from St. Croix is perfect for anyone including professional guides who need reliable client rods, weekend warriors looking for quality gear for a great deal, to tournament anglers looking to fill the holes in their rod lineup.

Features:

  • Premium quality SCII carbon.
  • Hybrid guide platform featuring SeaGuide Aluminum Oxide guides with black frames and SeaGuide Atlas Performance stainless (SS304) guides with Sea Guide black PVD coated tip top.
  • SeaGuide XCMS reel seat with black hood on non-swimbait casting models.
  • SeaGuide TCS reel seat with black hood on casting swimbait specific models.
  • Split-grip premium-grade cork handle on spinning and non-swimbait casting models.

Very nice rod for the price

The first fish I caught with my BXC71MF was a very unhappy 36" musky on a 3/8 oz spinnerbait. That same week I caught numerous other bass a handful more musky on the rod. The bass weren't an issue to get in but some of the musky tested how much bend this rod had. I think it's safe to say if this rod can handle the muskies that it could probably handle just about any bass you throw at it. Caught all kinds of fish through the fall on the rod and I can't say I ran into any hiccups. The rod tip is super sensitive and I can feel my spinnerbait clip weeds easy but that being said it is pretty flexy so I wouldn't go throwing anything much heavier than a 1/2oz on a medium rod. I don't do much jigging but I'm pretty sure this rod would be excellent for jigging given it's sensitivity. That being said St. Croix does make better rods but you will have to pay for that extra quality. For these being on the lower end of St. Croix's lineup they certainly don't come off as feeling cheap. I'd buy another one with absolutely no qualms.

Awesome rod. I just bought another one a few weeks ago because I was so happy with the one I got for Christmas. Super light, durable, comfortable, and reliable. Can’t go wrong

The debate of $100 and under rods ends with this St Croix Bass X. Hands down the best one I used yet. The quality, feel and action from a higher end rod at a affordable price.
Pros
  • Fuji reel seat, sensitivity, price.

For $100, you can't beat this! Rod is light, sensitive, feels great, and is St. Croix quality. Best rod in the $100 on the market. I picked up the 7'1" MH and love it, will likely have a 6'6" MH soon as well.
