I travel for work and need travel rods and st.croix is by far the best quality and best feeling travel rod. I got Uglystik 3pc and 4pc travel rods and this st Croix is way better.

Great Travel Rod

I purchased 7'6" MH trek rod.
I use it for beach fishing. Really like how sensitive it is.

Great travel rod with a great case
April 8, 2021
The handle and guides are really beefy and the handle is very long. The rod has amazing sensitivity, you can feel the blade on an underspin separate from the tail of the swimbait with it. I have an Abu Garcia Revo Inshore 40 and it is pretty well balanced and absolutely slings.
Pros
  • Sensitivity
  • Case
  • Weight
  • Balance
Cons
  • Handle length
  • Guide size
  • Not exactly a rod to sling lures all day, more for bait or bottom fishing, just a bit cumbersome to beat bank or constantly cast/retrieve

Which of the would fair best to light tackle snook, peacock bass and striper fishing and what reel would you pair it with?
1 Answer
Hi Matthew, based on your fishing application I would recommend the St. Croix ATS76MHF3 Avid Trek Travel Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-ats76mhf3-avid-trek-travel-spinning-rod.html This would pair well with a Shimano STC5000XGFL Stradic FL Spinning Reel. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-stc5000xgfl-stradic-fl-spinning-reel.html for light tackle fishing for Stripers, Peacock Bass and other species. Is there any advantage to this over the tidemaster travel or vice versa?
1 Answer
Yes, these rods are build with a better SC carbon 3 blank oposed to the Tidemasters SC2 blanks, as well as these Avid Trek rods have nice Fuji components and SeaGuides as well.

Overall a better built rod with better components and a 15 year warranty to last!

Are these new rods good to use in saltwater? Primarily fish inshore in northeast for stripers/blues and Florida for reds/snook.
1 Answer
This rod can certainly be used in your saltwater applications. I would recommend the 7'-7'6 Medium or Medium Heavy rated rod depending what you primarily are using to fish with.

If you are worried about this rods saltwater capabilities I would also recommend the St. Croix Tidemaster travel rods
