Simms Challenger Jackets feature 2-layer Toray fabric with fully taped seams to provide 100-percent waterproof and breathable performance. Duck inside the 3-point adjustable storm hood (which conveniently stows in the collar) to dodge hard rain and revive your cold hands in the fleece-lined pockets. The external architecture includes a YKK VISLON center front zipper with a storm flap that provides added protection. great jacket

finally have a sometime with the simms challenger jacket (L). size fits like an XL, very roomy with a hoodie underneath. weather conditions are southern cali, does get cold by our standards but with the wind resistance and water repellency this jacket keeps you dry. I would buy again or any of the simms products.

Disappointed and VERY WET

Purchased this jacket for surf fishing, was very surprised when caught in heavy rain and discovered not only was I wet inside out but the jacket actually held in water between the layers. granted the jacket works well in light rain but I didn't expect it to hold in water and provided no protection at all during heavy rain.

Great jacket for cold and wet weather

I bought this jacket for fishing Northern California all year. Works great in January with a sweat shirt and sweat pants underneath. In the warm weather I just wear a light fishing shirt and pants and that’s it. Super lightweight and stays dry.

I am 6 foot three and 240 pounds in the XL size jacket fit perfect materials are Amazingly soft. I haven’t used it in the rain, but was Simms quality I trust it will be perfect.

Dry and Warm!

I was very impressed with this item. It keeps me warm and dry. I do layer underneath. For me, it fits slightly large. However, it was XL and I am approx. 225 lbs. It probably would fit someone much larger than me. Regardless of the size, I am very happy with the quality of construction.

Heavy duty, well seam taped and good range of movement.
Pros
- Simms quality.
- Pockets placed well and lined.
- Interesting collar / hood system.
Cons
- Collar is awkward when not used for foul weather, I can envision the wind slapping it into the face if you have it open.
- Jackets fit at least a size bigger than marked! I wear a large in all brands, but had to exchange my large for a medium...fits great though.

I am 6'1" and 210 pounds. I own and wear a lot of Simms jackets, shirts, layered wear, waders etc and all in Size XL. I put on this jacket and it was way too big. I could add 3 layers underneath and it would still have been too big. The sleeves were so long that the cuffs reached the knuckles on my fingers.

Ordered the bibs and jacket. Both fit great. Well made. I'm ready for whatever foul weather Canada has in store for me.
