Trevala S utilizes a new proprietary construction type called C4S. C4s results in incredible hoop strength and incredibly sensitive rods. Because of this construction we can use tiny rod diameters. These new smaller diameters lessen the overall weight which allows you to focus on fighting the fish and not your tackle. There is a Trevala S for fishing every new size of Shallow butterfly jig spinning and casting configurations are available. These very specific actions make success an even greater probability when spot fishing sunken stone outcroppings and wrecks. You will be amazed what these little rods are able to conquer.
  • C4S Blank Construction
  • Fuji Alconite Guides
  • Fuji Reel Seat
  • Custom Shaped Handles with Split Grip
  • EVA handles for comfort

Nice Rod
December 5, 2020
I bought this for saltwater bottom fishing, porgies, fluke, blackfish (tautog) and the like. Medium-heavy version. Wasn't crazy about the length - 6'3". I prefer 7'. But once I got it into my head, I couldn't get it out. Once I had it in my hands, so light, I was, as they say, hooked. Rod worked great with a Daiwa 4000D-C and 30lb Power Pro. Strong enough to bring up an 11lb blackfish. Then, very next trip, got caught in the mechanism of the lobby door and SNAP! Six more inches gone. Made it up with a Trevala PX (yes, 7', MH), but I'm still happy for that time we got to fish together, and that wonderfully HUGE tautog. If you can keep it in one piece, it'll be good for you.
Pros
  • Very lightweight
  • Very strong
  • Attractive coloration
  • Long butt section
Cons
  • A tad too short for my actual want.

TVSS63
August 24, 2020
I bought a TVSS63ML last month here. Maybe I had clicked a wrong choice. I had thought to buy a TVSS63MH. Anyway, I enjoyed it very much when fishing porgies. It was light, but it was capable of handling double porgies. The tragedy happened when I put the rod down to the holder and went to help my friend whose line was tangled with the boat engine. When I turned back, I saw the rod bending all the way down the boat and crack! It might have tangled into one of the many cow-nose Rays swimming around us most of the time.
I wondered why the rod was broken, in stead of the leader or the main line, both 30 pound test.
TackleDirect.com was great to refund me since the rod was out of stock for a replacement. Shimano USA did not have it either.
Pros
  • light and strong
Cons
  • too narrow the opening for the reel

Great Shallow Blackfish Rod
February 18, 2020
Been using this rod for about a year now fishing shallow water blackfish with light Jigs. Has the sensitivity to feel the bight and the backbone to make sure they dont go back down into the hole. Great Rod.

Salmon trolling down rigger rods
August 24, 2017
I know spinning gear isn't commonly used trolling, but these rods are excellent trolling with Power Pro line for salmon with a down rigger. I have landed King salmon to 60 lbs and many silver salmon to 14 lbs, the spinning reels are much user friendlier as they stay in the correct position for novice fishermen and they don't have to fight the reel to keep it on top of the rod. The single foot design line guides are not prone to cracking the blank as the double foot guides are, and I have not broken a blank yet using these rods for the past 5 years.
Pros
  • Follows the down rigger cable well, single foot guide design, fast action tip works well with Spectra lines...
Cons
  • Reel seat is a little too small (short) for Shimano C5000 reels I am using (200 yards #30 Power Pro)

Great Fishing Pole
September 3, 2016
I am using this pole for fluking in the ocean and it is a great pole to have. It is very thick which makes it a stiff pole to fight bigger fish on. I can't wait to fight some mahi on this pole offshore. Definitely buy this pole.

Lite, versatile and well built. I use it to jig for salmon and just about any freshwater big game fish and luved it. The long handle is a tremendous plus to fighting big fish..😀.

The Jig weights written are a single weight. Is there a way to know the jig weight range for each rod?
1 Answer
Hello Fernando, the jig ratings we have are off the Shimano website. You can always go a little above or below the jig rating.http://fish.shimano.com/content/sac-fish/en/home/products/fishing-rods/jigging/trevala-s-jigging-spinning.html

I saw on video this rod being used with Trinidad 12A can this be done
1 Answer
Im sure anything is possible. However, I would recommend against using a spinning rod for a conventional reel. Although this model is discontinued and has been upgraded to the Trevala PX models, both come available in a conventional rod style

What's the difference between the Shimano Trevala S Jigging Spinning Rods, and the Shimano Trevala Butterfly Jigging Spinning Rods? I'm looking to pair something with a Shimano Thunnus 8000 spinning rod for offshore popping...
1 Answer
The Trevala S only come in lengths 6' 3, and 6' 6. The Trevala Butterfly come in lengths 5' 8, 6', 6' 6, and 7'. The materials they are built from are the only main difference between the two aside from specifications like power, action, technique, and lengths. Shimano Trevala Jigging Rods are to be used with high speed, high power reels.

The Stradic would be the best reel pairing it with the Shimano TVSS63L Trevala S Jigging Spinning Rod for inshore jigging around bridges.
