The highly innovative Shimano Trevala Jigging rod series is designed to be fished with the deadly Shimano Butterfly jigs, which were developed from an extremely productive Japanese-style jigging system. These are powerful, lightweight and light-action rods to be used with high speed, high power reels (such as a Shimano Trinidad Narrow or Stella).
TC4F ConstructionTM
Shimano has engineered the next generation of TC4 construction. This new construction uses a high carbon butt section and fused together with a TC4 tip section. This new blank design gives you the pulling power of TC4 but with less weight and increased sensitivity. You will also notice a much faster recovery rate, which will increase the jigging action.
  • Shimano High Modulus TC4F Construction
  • New Concept Fuji SIC guides
  • Fuji palm style reel seat on casting
  • Black diamond foregrip
  • Custom shaped reargrip
  • Aluminum gimbal on selected rods

I'm a kid so I may not be as strong as some people which is why I love this rod. Most rods when you get up to this size are bulky and heavy, but this rod is the opposite which makes it easier when fighting a fish. Trust me it really does make a difference
Pros
  • Very lightweight
  • Not super expensive
  • Nice sensitivity

We use these rods for Tuna fishing, so when we needed a couple more rods for our electric reels, we went back to the Trevalas. These are awesome rods for the price!

I have it for like 3 to 4 years. Catch a lot of fish. I took out last week and the rod broke in haft. I'm located in Monterey ca. I went fishing in a charter boat for rock fish and lincod. I hook up with a big ling ling and when I try to reel in it snap in haft. I still use it and got the limit on rock fish. When I bought the rod it have lifetime warranty. I check shimano website and they only offered one year. I love the rod it just suck how shimano change it to one year warranty. I bought this rod due to lifetime warranty. I have send the rod to shimano and no fishing for me for like 2weeks. Today I recieve a new rod replacement. My only worries is the rod have a tag for only one year warranty???? I'm just like whats going on I bought the rod due to lifetimewarranty!!! Shimano tech need to fix this... I will call shimano tomorrow to make sure I'm still on the lifetime warranty. Shimano with gloomis hope you guys don't change your gloomis warranty !!! FIXED THIS PLEASE. ITS UNFAIR FOR CUSTOMERS WHO BUY QUALITY RODS AND REELS WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY. AND NOT KNOWING IT CHANGE TO 1YEAR WARRANTY.
Pros
  • Good Quality rod
Cons
  • Warranty
  • Recommend I will pick NO due to warranty

Great rod for the money
March 9, 2014
If you plan on catching just about any fish out there other than tuna from grouper, snapper to giant 100lb AJ's this is a great choice. You can jig it all day due to it's light weight. The shorter length will help save on your back as well.
Pros
  • Tough and light weight
Cons
  • Not built for YFT or BFT

I have a Trinidad 40 I am looking for a jigging rod for it.going tuna fishing any suggestions?

This rod would work for that, but it might be a little light. I would recommend looking at the Shimano Game Type J jigging rods, or the Black Hole jigging rods.

This rod would be okay for that, as long as you stay within the rod's recommended weight range.
