TackleDirect TDSSUT601MHSB Custom Rod Description:

Shimano TLD25 Reel Description: You don't need a big boat to catch big fish. In fact, there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't catch a 250-pound thresher shark from your 20-foot center console boat. Unless you left your TLD at home. If you own a small fishing boat, or you often find yourself elbow-to-elbow with your angling compatriots on the large party boats, you need a reel that's both nimble and versatile. Our TLD reels are light in hand, so easy to shift they're almost mindless, and they're adaptable to any number of bluewater species from tuna to striped marlin. And because they're built by Shimano, durability is an inevitable part of the package. A large, private, ocean-going vessel may be neat, but it's not necessary. Just match the tackle to the situation. And let the fish fall where they may.

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

A nice addition to our boat. Smoother than I expected and built solid. I won't be spending $1000 a set up again anytime soon with this less expensive option out there.
Pros
  • Solid construction
  • Smooth operation

Reel = everyone knows they've been around forever. Just a solid durable reel, nothin fancy just works.
Rod = Not too beefy, good bend. I wish it was 6' for fish at boat side but you just gotta back up a little to get fish to gaff.
Pros
  • durable and affordable
Cons
  • none

They worked great on several larger sharks 10 foot pluses. Also caught several grouper and amber jack . The drag worked great and the rods also performed really well. We realised almost all the fish. Thanks again Dave.

Would you use this combo for sailfish an tarpon
1 Answer
This combo would definitely do the job, but typically we would recommend an all metal reel Such as a Talica BFC or Torium for  sailfish as they can put a beating on your drag and reels themselves.

But this is a very solid, versatile combo for most inshore/offshore game fish
