This combo is a multi-purpose inshore, mid shore, live bait, trolling and bottom fish combo. It's the perfect inshore combo for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Snapper, Grouper, and assorted bottom species. Excellent Mid shore combo for targeting pelagic species like sailfish, wahoo. King mackerel, tuna, and dolphin.

TackleDirect TDSSUT601MHSB Custom Rod Description:
  • Precision blend of graphite and fiberglass
  • Stainless steel frame, aluminum oxide turbo guides and tip top
  • Super tough solid tip construction
  • Textured shrink vinyl grip and graphite hooded reel seat
  • Tough epoxy double thread wraps
  • Machined aluminum ball gimbal

Shimano TLD20 Reel Description: You don't need a big boat to catch big fish. In fact, there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't catch a 250-pound thresher shark from your 20-foot center console boat. Unless you left your TLD at home. If you own a small fishing boat, or you often find yourself elbow-to-elbow with your angling compatriots on the large party boats, you need a reel that's both nimble and versatile. Our TLD reels are light in hand, so easy to shift they're almost mindless, and they're adaptable to any number of bluewater species from tuna to striped marlin. And because they're built by Shimano, durability is an inevitable part of the package. A large, private, ocean-going vessel may be neat, but it's not necessary. Just match the tackle to the situation. And let the fish fall where they may.

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

Great rod for trolling stripers, tuna, and mahi here in the NE. Great backbone that can handle almost anything I throw at it. I will be getting a few more to round out my trolling set.

Nice rods

I recently purchased 4 of these TLD 20 Combos for my new boat. I intend to use them as general purpose trolling rods for everything that swims from 0 to 30 miles offshore and they seem to be perfect for that. The Shimano TLD has a great reputation and the Tackle Direct rod seems well built compared to similar priced rods. I would say the only drawback is the crappy handle on the Shimano TLD, I'm not sure why Shimano wont upgrade them but there are cheap handle upgrades available on Ebay atleast. The guys in store were helpful and spooled it up with line for me just how asked them. I wouldn't recommend these as canyon trolling gear but I have confidence I can catch anything from stripers to tuna with these combos. Overall I would say these are a well priced workhorse trolling rod.

how many guides does the rod have ? . would this work for trolling albacore
1 Answer
Edward,

That combo is a bit light, but the TDSSUT601MHSB/TLD30II (SHM-3113) would be a better fit for trolling tuna/albacore.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
