I caught this 36lb Amber Jack on a 7'2" Med-light Terez, yes medium light. I don't suggest this size rod for Amber Jack, we were fishing for snapper, but it can handle it!

Use this pole off the Oregon coast. Brought in 6 foot Blue Sharks, 42 inch lingcod and had my way with them. Still waiting for a good Halibut. Love this rod. Would recommend it and will buy more.

This rod is great, honestly the first really 'good' rod I've purchased and man what a difference it makes. The rod is thin with a lot of feel and action but incredibly tough. You can tell it has a lot of power in it if you need to haul in a sizeable fish. I've been using it for striped bass and it has enough sensitivity that you can really feel them bumping the lure and when they hit you can just crank down and the rod happily takes it.

Terez rods were great and got better in 2019 when the added Power X and Spiral X making the rods have less/no twist and adding to the power/parabolic lift of the rod making it have greater backbone/power. Bottom line rod has a very sensitive tip while also having the power you want. Bottom line you can catch almost anything that swims and you CAN’T break this rod.
I have 13 Terez rods from ML to XH and I highly recommend these rods. I have them paired with Saragosa and Twin Power reels .... a great combination.

Yes, all the terez models will be too heavy for the Stella 3000 FE. It will work however the rod and reel ratio will not be balanced. try a Grappler series they are much lighter.Â

I am contemplating purchasing the Shimano Terez Spinning Rod and I am going back and forth on the length and power. I recently purchased the Shimano Saragosa 6000 and I'm look for a pole that would be great for blue fish & Striped Bass up to 30lbs. I will be using diamond jigs most frequently we the pole. I was originally thinking of going with the 7'2 Heavy and most people I talk to use 30lb braid. I am wondering if I should go down the Medium Action that is recommended for 30lb braid or if I should stay with the Heavy and just put on 50lb braid.

Both rods will work for your application. The heavy will just muscle them in quicker while the medium will be more of a fight. The 6000 saragosa would balance out better with the medium power rod.Â

Shimano doesn't list a drag rating for the Terez rods. The 6'9" is rated to 200 pounds while the 8 foot is rated to 100 pounds.

I would go wit the 7'2" H or XH rod. The length of the rod allows it to be a nice medium, where you could jig and pop effectively, depending on how the fish are feeding. For a reel, I would go with a Stella SW C 14K or 18K.

What is the difference between the 7'8 heavy and the 7'8 extra heavy? does the XH have the second grip above the reel seat rather than the single full length grip?

The Extra Heavy has a bit more backbone over the Heavy. The heavy will bend further down the blank than the Extra Heavy. Both have a extra grip.Â

The power of the rod does not necessarily matter when pairing with a specific reel. Medium or Medium-Heavy depends on your preference. The Medium 7'2 would be the best option when fishing striper and tautog. Unfortunately, Shimano does not have lure ratings for the Terez rods.

Interested in pairing a Saragossa 8000 with a Terez for shore casting to Tarpon from 80 to 120lbs. Will be using plugs and swim baits around 2 ounces plus. Versatility would be a bonus-may also use the rod in Panama for roosterfish, cubera snapper--and if not asking too much for the rod--to use it on a kayak.

The Terez is definitely a great option. Model number TZS72MBLK would pair very well with the reel you have and would suit those applications perfectly. I'd also look into the Lamiglas Paco Kayak Series Saltwater Rods.

If casting distance is of primary concern I'd suggest the 7'8" models (TZS78HBLK and TZS78XHBLK). These models would also be the best fit for a reel in the size range that you mentioned.
