Redesigned for 2019, the new Shimano Terez Spinning Rods are stronger, lighter, and better suited to dominate the blue water than ever before. Featuring Shimano's Spiral-X and Hi-Power X construction, the new Terez is built on one of the world's most advanced blanks and is fitted with all custom components for a rod that is truly built to perfection. Spiral X construction consists of multiple layers comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, resulting in enhanced torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This construction results in an extremely responsive rod that allows for instant power transmission and greatly enhances fish fighting capabilities. Spiral X blanks are 250% more structurally rigid and 180% less prone to twisting than standard blank construction. These advanced blanks are equipped custom Shimano Aluminum Reel Seats and wrapped with all new Fuji BKW Alconite frame guides. The 2019 Terez series covers a wide spectrum of offshore angling techniques by consisting of 12 casting models, 9 spinning, and 2 rail rods. Whether you’re fishing the Northeast or Southeast, Gulf Coast or West Coast, or traveling the world in search of exotic trophies, there's a Terez rod to fit any application.

I caught this 36lb Amber Jack on a 7'2" Med-light Terez, yes medium light. I don't suggest this size rod for Amber Jack, we were fishing for snapper, but it can handle it!

Fantastic rod
December 17, 2021
This rod is great, honestly the first really 'good' rod I've purchased and man what a difference it makes. The rod is thin with a lot of feel and action but incredibly tough. You can tell it has a lot of power in it if you need to haul in a sizeable fish. I've been using it for striped bass and it has enough sensitivity that you can really feel them bumping the lure and when they hit you can just crank down and the rod happily takes it.
Pros
  • Strong, light, sensitive.

Best All Around Rods on Market Today!!!!!
November 21, 2020
Terez rods were great and got better in 2019 when the added Power X and Spiral X making the rods have less/no twist and adding to the power/parabolic lift of the rod making it have greater backbone/power. Bottom line rod has a very sensitive tip while also having the power you want. Bottom line you can catch almost anything that swims and you CAN’T break this rod.

I have 13 Terez rods from ML to XH and I highly recommend these rods. I have them paired with Saragosa and Twin Power reels .... a great combination.
Pros
  • Sensitivity, and power in a rod that won?t break!!!!
Cons
  • More expensive than some others but worth the money to get the best all around rod on the market today!!!!

I probably wouldn't use a Stradic for these rods, A Saragossa 6000-10000 would be a better choice.

Would the 72ML be too heavy for a 3000 Stella FE with 20lb power pro?
1 Answer
Yes, all the terez models will be too heavy for the Stella 3000 FE. It will work however the rod and reel ratio will not be balanced. try a Grappler series they are much lighter.

I am contemplating purchasing the Shimano Terez Spinning Rod and I am going back and forth on the length and power. I recently purchased the Shimano Saragosa 6000 and I'm look for a pole that would be great for blue fish & Striped Bass up to 30lbs. I will be using diamond jigs most frequently we the pole. I was originally thinking of going with the 7'2 Heavy and most people I talk to use 30lb braid. I am wondering if I should go down the Medium Action that is recommended for 30lb braid or if I should stay with the Heavy and just put on 50lb braid.
1 Answer
Both rods will work for your application. The heavy will just muscle them in quicker while the medium will be more of a fight. The 6000 saragosa would balance out better with the medium power rod.

besdides the 5 inches in length, what is the difference between the Terez TZS72M and the Grappler GRPCS77M? thank you
1 Answer
Hi Tom, The Shimano GRPCS77M Grappler Type C Popping Rod is designed for long distance casting poppers and stickbaits rather than vertical jigging. This is a fast action, 2 piece rod that features a soft tip for launching lures great distances, and has a sturdy backbone that provides strong fighting power against offshore species like tuna. The Shimano TZS72M Terez Spinning Rod uses Spiral-X and Hi-Power X construction in the blank that can be used for a variety of both inshore and offshore fishing applications. The Shimano Terez rod TZS69XH you are looking will work if looking for more of an all around - popping, jigging, trolling, and bottom fishing.  But if you are looking for a rod that will be used solely for popping for big BFT, the the Shimano Grappler Type C Popping rod - GRPCS82H would be a better choice.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

I would go wit the 7'2" H or XH rod. The length of the rod allows it to be a nice medium, where you could jig and pop effectively, depending on how the fish are feeding. For a reel, I would go with a Stella SW C 14K or 18K.

Does 7'2 MH or M pair better with Stella FJ 5000 as a all around combo? Such as inshore tautog or striper fishing ? What is the lure weight rated for M and MH 7'2?
1 Answer
The power of the rod does not necessarily matter when pairing with a specific reel. Medium or Medium-Heavy depends on your preference. The Medium 7'2 would be the best option when fishing striper and tautog. Unfortunately, Shimano does not have lure ratings for the Terez rods.

With a 6000 saragosa, which terez rod would be good for stripers and bluefish on a boat?

I would recommend using the Shimano TZS72MBLK Terez Spinning Rod Black.(https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-tzs72mblk-terez-spinning-rod-black.html)

I have a Penn Slammer 9500, Iâ€â"¢m going to be casting irons and poppers at 100lb+ bluefin tuna. Iâ€â"¢m trying to decide between a Terez and a Tallus, and which model I should get. I will be fishing heavy drag and 80-100lb line.

I would recommend the Shimano TZS78XHBLK Terez Spinning Rod Black.

Thank you for your time and expertise. Interested in pairing a Saragossa 8000 with a Terez for shore casting to Tarpon from 80 to 120lbs. Will be using plugs and swim baits around 2 ounces plus. Versatility would be a bonus-may also use the rod in Panama for roosterfish, cubera snapper--and if not asking too much for the rod--to use it on a kayak. thanks

That would be a perfect pair for the type of fishing you are trying to do. Call 888-354-7335 or place an order online.

Iâ€â"¢m looking for an all arounder (poppers, jigging, live line shad) to match up with my Saragosa SW6000 for stripers, blues, albies out of my kayak. What rod would you recommend?
1 Answer
The Terez is definitely a great option. Model number TZS72MBLK would pair very well with the reel you have and would suit those applications perfectly. I'd also look into the Lamiglas Paco Kayak Series Saltwater Rods.

I'm looking for a rod that would match a slammer 3 8500 or 9500 witchever is best for casting out far to yellowtail. so. Cal. Area I'm a terez owner and love them. And would probably use brain with top shot.
1 Answer
If casting distance is of primary concern I'd suggest the 7'8" models (TZS78HBLK and TZS78XHBLK). These models would also be the best fit for a reel in the size range that you mentioned.
