Designed to meet the demands of some of the most dialed-in Southeastern anglers, the Shimano Teramar XX Southeast Spinning Rods utilize industry leading technologies to set a new standard in performance. With powers, actions, and features catered to targeting the plethora of game fish seen on the Southeast coast, this series covers everything from throwing soft plastics for redfish and snook, to drifting crabs for trophy tarpon. The Teramar XX SE Rods are built on blanks featuring Shimano's highly touted Spiral-X and Hi-Power X construction. Spiral X construction consists of multiple layers comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, resulting in enhanced torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This construction results in an extremely responsive rod that allows for instant power transmission and greatly enhances fish fighting capabilities. Spiral X blanks are 250% more structurally rigid and 180% less prone to twisting than standard blank construction. These state-of-the-art blanks are fitted with premium quality components, including Fuji FazLite Guides and AA cork full grip handles. Designed with input from Shimano Pro Anglers and well respected fishing guides off of Florida's Eastern coast, you won't find a more capable assortment of technique specific inshore rods than the Teramar XX SE.

What is the main difference between the Teramar TMS and the TXE in the SE version 80xh?
1 Answer
Hi Dale, The Shimano Teramar Southeast Inshore Spinning Rod TMSX80XH has Shimano TC4 Construction rod blank, New Concept Fuji Aluminum Oxide guides, and Shimano reel seat. The Shimano TXESX80XH Teramar XX Southeast Spinning Rods are built on on blanks using Spiral-X and Hi-Power X construction, they have Fuji FazLite Guides, and AA cork full grip handles which allow for a very strong and rigid rod compared to the TMSX80XH model. Which of the 7 medium action rods, which is more powerful? Im looking for one that can cast up to 1 oz well. The chart says the TXES70M can cast heavier weights but shouldnt the XF cast more?
1 Answer
Hi Kam, I would recommend the Shimano Teramar TXES70M rod model. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-txes70m-teramar-xx-southeast-spinning-rod.html Since this rod is only a fast action, the tip is a bit thicker on this rod allowing the rod to cast up to 1oz lures more effectively than the 7'ft Extra Fast model TXESX70M which will have a lighter and thinner tip section only allowing to cast up to 5/8oz lure weights. Live in the Florida keys. My current shore shark set up is an ugly stik tiger mh and a shimano speedmaster 14k surf reel. Last night on a 125lb bull shark I realized that I needed a rod with more backbone. Debating between the xh and xxh and will be swapping the 14k to that rod. Opinions on how each would handle south Florida shark fishing from shore.
1 Answer
Hi Dave, I would recommend the Shimano Teramar XX Southeast Spinning Rod Model: TXES80XXH; TackleDirect Code: SHM-4335. This rod has a very strong backbone and can also toss heavier baits with no issues. However since its sold out currently I would also recommend either a St. Croix Mojo Inshore Spinning Rod. Model: JIS79XHMF; TackleDirect Code: SCR-1996. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-jis79xhmf-mojo-inshore-spinning-rod.html. Or a Star Paraflex Spinning Boat Rod. Model: SGB70H; TackleDirect Code: STA-0267. https://www.tackledirect.com/star-sgb70h-paraflex-spinning-boat-rod.html. This rod also has alot of backbone and can toss heavier baits to shark. I am debating in between Heavy vs XX Heavy, both in 8 ft, for throwing live baits in piers for king mackerels in gulf of mexico. Which one should work better? Also, I like to hear a recommended size of a spinning reel for that application. I like to go with Shimano Stella either 6000 or 8000. I like 6000 for smaller and lighter but wonder I will have to move up to 8000 or not.
1 Answer
Hi Sammy, The Shimano Teramar XX Southeast Spinning Rod model: TXES80XXH; TackleDirect Code: SHM-4335 is backordered. I would recommend Shimano TXESX80XH Teramar XX Southeast Spinning Rod. Model: TXESX80XH; TackleDirect Code: SHM-4334. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-txesx80xh-teramar-xx-southeast-spinning-rod.html. This rod will be a little more forgiving than the TXES80XXH which will allow for less pulled hooks on fish. This would pair perfect with a Shimano STLSW8000PGC Stella SW C Spinning Reel. Model: STLSW8000PGC; TackleDirect Code: SHM-3722. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-stlsw8000pgc-stella-sw-spinning-reels.html. This reel will give you the essential line capacity for King Mackerel that make long runs during a fight. Please let us know what else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Which of Teramar xx rod would pair well with Twin Power 5000?  I will mainly use the combo for  jetties and pier throwing a larger lure or some live bait for king mackerels or bonitas. Looking for 7.6 or 8 footer.
1 Answer
I would go with the XH model for this case. The lure rating of the XH (3/4oz.-3oz.) covers a wider range for lures and baits you'd be able to throw.

What application would the  7’ 6” MH XF be best used? I throw a lot of artificial stuff at snook and Redfish  would this rod for the bill and what reel/size would pair best
1 Answer
This rod would definitely fit the bill for the fishing application you intend to pursue, I would recommend pairing this rod with a Shimano Stradic FL 4000 or 3000 size if you want to keep it as light as possible.

This pairing would make for a super light well balanced set up that would make handling these snook and reds a blast
