Greatly improving upon one of Shimano's most successful line of saltwater rods, the Shimano Tallus PX Casting Rods make use of advanced blank technologies for unrivaled performance in their class. Specializing in versatility, the Tallus PX eliminates the heavy and bulky feel that often comes along with rods deemed as "multipurpose boat rods", which are generally uncomfortable to use. Built on blanks featuring Hi-Power X reinforcing technology, the Tallus PX increases overall strength and responsiveness while keeping the rod blank lightweight and comfortable to fish. The Hi-Power X blank is built with an outer layer of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, resulting in enhanced torsional rigidity to reduce twist and ovalization. Hi-Power X technology enhances performance by transferring energy efficiently through the rod to increase casting distance and provide improved lifting power when fighting fish. When it comes to components, the Tallus PX is outfitted with SeaGuide Zirconia Guides, and features an EVA foregrip and diamond wrap shrink tube reargrip. Ready to put in some serious work on any vessel on any coast, the versatile Tallus PX is a great option for any saltwater angler who is live bait fishing, chunking, bottom fishing with heavy weights, or even trolling.

To get ready for the summer season coming up, I purchased a 7ft Tallus PX to pair up with my Tranx 400. Can't wait to throw at some kelp paddies, or pick off a few 40-50 lb tuna out here on the west coast. TD is my go to store! Found you guys about 5-6 yrs ago when I got a Penn fathom 30 on sale for 189.00. Also just purchased an Okuma rod that wasn't in stock, but they ordered one and shipped it faster than I expected. Never a problem with shipping, lost goods, or damaged products. Like everybody else right now, a little low on stock, but if you want it...they'll get it. THANKS TD!

What (if any) shimano torium reel would pair up with the XtraHeavy rod ?

Thanks

1 Answer
Hi John, Depending on your fishing application, I would recommend a Shimano TOR16HGA Torium Star Drag Conventional Reel. This reel would pair up nicely with a Shimano Tallus PX XH action rod. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

I have a talica 25 which I would like to do some shark fishing, bottom fishing for anything up to 100 pound groupers, and also some lighter fishing aswell like maybe mahi trolling, would the XH 6 ft rod pair well?
1 Answer
Hi Vinny, I recommend a 6ft XXH Shimano Tallus PX Conventional Rod. Specifically Model: TLXC60XXH; TD Code: SHM-4273. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-tlxc60xxh-tallus-px-conventional-rod.html This rod has the strong backbone needed to fight large groupers, tuna, and shark and would match well with your Shimano Talica 25. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

I live in East Central Florida and wondering wich one of these rods would be better for catching big grouper in about 250 feet of water. Thank you.
1 Answer
I would recommend either the TLXC66H or the TLXC66MH. The heavy will be good for grouper over 50lbs but under 100lbs and the medium heavy will be good for under 50lbs.

If used for chunking on Yellowfins does it have some flexibility as sometimes we have to downsize to 30lb Fluorocarbon and have found that a Rod with a semi soft tip helps prevent break offs when using a light leader on 50lb class fish. .. I am thinking about pairing this with a Shimano Torium 30 HGA
1 Answer
It depends on which model you're using. The Heavy and Extra Heavy models will have considerably less tip than the medium/medium heavy models.

Looking for a rod to pair with an avet hxj raptor spooled with jb hollow 60# with 80# mono topshot. Looking to use it I. GOM jigging for  snapper, amberjack and grouper on the reefs but would also like to use it at the oil rigs for yellowfin and black fin. Possibly some light trolling for mahi and wahoo. I know this rod doesn’t exist but looking to see what you would suggest.
1 Answer
These Tallus PX models in 6'6 H or XH should do the trick for most of your fishing applications and be a happy medium for some light trolling applications
