Built to provide high end performance and dependability in a compact lightweight frame, the Shimano SpeedMaster II Lever Drag Reel is an absolute fish fighting machine. These two-speed lever drag reels feature the same sleek and functional design coupled with unrelenting power that blue water anglers have come to expect from Shimano conventional reels, but now at a price that everyone can appreciate. The rigid Hagane Body prevents the misalignment of moving parts under the heaviest of loads, giving the SpeedMaster II the strength to handle anything from tough pelagic species, to bottom dwelling heavy weights. Whether you are trolling, chunking, live-lining or jigging, the SpeedMaster II has the wide adjustable drag and high torque power you can rely on to come out on top. Included is a spare drag lever for adjusting the drag curve for optimal use with monofilament lines, giving the SpeedMaster II a less aggressive drag curve that is ideal for targeting sailfish and white marlin.

SHIMANO SPM1211

THE SHIMANO SPM1211 IS A PERFECT 2 SPEED LEVER DRAG REEL FOR THOSE DEEP SEA MONSTERS.THE ALL METAL 0NE PIECE FRAME DOESN'T FLEX (LIKE SOME OF THOSE GRAPHITE FRAMED REELS) WHEN FIGHTING A BIG FISH. THE LEVER DRAG IS GREAT FOR THOSE LONG RUNS. THIS REEL IS A PERFECT SIZE. IT HOLDS A NICE AMOUNT OF 50 LB BRAID. I COULDN'T RESIST BUYING THIS REEL WHEN I FIRST LAID MY EYES ON IT. TACKLE DIRECT'S PRICE CAN'T BE BEAT AND WITH THEIR FREE SHIPPING IT'S A NO BRAINER!!! IF YOUR IN NEED OF A PERFECT CONVENTIONAL (BOAT) REEL, I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU LOOK INTO THE SHIMANO SPM12II REEL------YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!

Where's the lefthanded reels. Two speed, Level wind. You are the leader. Stop discriminating against lefty fishermen. We are 20 percent of your buyers.

No lefthanded. Level wind 2 speed reels. Not even in lefthanded electric reels. There's a market out there.

Not bad for the price
July 15, 2021
I bought this reel and paired it with a shimano terez to do vertical jigging and wreck fishing. This is not a bad reel. It’s not a talica but I can get the job done.
Pros
  • Two speed, price, line capacity.
Cons
  • Not built as well as a talica but it?s half the price.

Wondering about reel options for braid with weighted steel line for trolling. Looking at the Shimano speed master II. I would like to have 500 yards of 50 pound braid and 200 feet of copper or weighted steel. Wondering which real size is best? Number 16?
1 Answer
Hi Darin, What are you fishing for and what is your fishing application? Typically you would not use Shimano Speedmasters with wire line unless you are removing the wire line when the reel is not being fished. I would recommend using Lead core line instead of wire. https://www.tackledirect.com/sufix-performance-lead-core-fishing-line.html This would be a betrer option depending on your fishing fishing application. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Will the 16 fit on a black hole B-581H3R (Spiral) jigging rod? They are a small but incredibly strong blank.
1 Answer
Yes they will work well together especially for jigging but the Speedmaster is a very versatile reel that you can use for multiple applications on multiple rods such as trolling, chunking and live lining.

Was thinking of pairing my 16II with a Star Rods DLX35H. targeting big reds, tarpon, snook and grouper. would it work?
1 Answer
Anthony, yes that would pair up really well with either the 12II or 16II. Essentially the same reel with a narrower spool on the 12. Jump up to the 16II if you require the additional line capacity.
