Great ultra lite
September 18, 2021
Bought this little reel for my godsons first fishing rod and I was amazed at how smooth it was for such a little reel.

Shimano makes some of the best stuff in the business and this little reel is one of them. Can’t beat the price to mess around with anything from snappers to large mouth bass.

Very small, lightweight, one of the smoothest reels I have. If there is any negative is that it doesn't have anti reverse.

I am very impressed with this reel at $30. Very smooth and light. It does have a very slight knock when the spool hits top/bottom but it's extremely subtle and not annoying in the slightest.

I would definitely buy this reel again.
Pros
  • Price
  • Weight
  • Good line capacity
  • Casts well
Cons
  • Only one version has a high gear ratio

Can they handle tog
1 Answer
Hi Thomas, The Shimano Sienna is intended to use as a Freshwater reel. I would recommend a Shimano Sedona 5000 size spinning reel. Specifically model: SEC5000XGFIC - Clam Pack; TD Code: SHM-4262. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-sec5000xgfic-sedona-fi-spinning-reel-clam-pack.html This reel is will hold plenty of line and has a strong drag needed to fight large tog. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Is this real suitable for saltwater fishing?

What rod do you recommend for this reel?

1 Answer
This reel is mostly designed to be used in freshwater or light inshore applications. Depending on what size reel and what you are fishing for I would recommend any Light or Medium inshore rods. A Penn Battalion Inshore, or a Shimano Teramar Inshore Southeast would pair well.
