Bluewave Surf BagLarge$84.99 USD

Designed by surfcasters for surfcasters, the Shimano Bluewave Surf Bags will keep you well equipped with everything you need for a successful day in the surf without weighing you down. Lightweight, compact, and built to last, these surf bags utilize convenient storage and carrying methods to hold just the right amount of gear without hindering your mobility. Available in two different sizes, the Bluewave Surf Bags utilize cylindrical tubes for storing larger lures like poppers and swimming plugs. The Medium size includes three tubes and the Large size includes four tubes. Beneath the tubes is a durable mesh bottom that allows for easy rinsing and quick drying of your lures. Internal pockets alongside the plug tubes are perfect for holding metal lures like tins and diamond jigs, as well as bucktails. Both sizes feature an easily removable carrying strap for slinging the bag over your shoulder, as well as integrated loops on the back for fastening the bag directly to your wading belt. This rugged surf bag is constructed from a heavy-duty rip-stop polyester fabric with double reinforced stitching at all seems for maximum durability. The heavy-duty TPU corrosion-resistant zipper closure is designed to resist wear-and-tear over time for smooth and consistent operation throughout the life of the bag.

Features:

  • Shoulder Strap & Belt Loops
  • Heavy TPU Corrosion-Resistant Zippers
  • Heavy Denier Rip-Stop Polyester Fabric
  • Strong Velcro Main Compartment Closure
  • Heavy-Duty Outer Liner Increases Rigidity

Solid Update to a Great Surf Bag
June 15, 2021
My original Bluewave gave up the ghost earlier this spring surf season after over 10 years of od of heavy-duty use. That alone should be reason enough to buy one. As a fishing guide, I fish nearly every day and that bag was A-B-U-S-E-D and took it like a champ. So when it was time to replace it, of course, I went back to the Bluewave. Wow, was I surprised.

The round tubes, the double front pockets, the drainage - all improved? How do you improve on something so good and not charge 10x's what I paid for the first one? I don't know, but Shimano did it.

This bag is the perfect blend of size, layout, function, and most of all price - I had some extra cash in hand when I went looking for a new bag so I did consider those other ones that cost the same as a night in a decent hotel - Sure they were great, but at this price point - I can buy two - keep one in the buggy and one at the house.

It is the best bag I have ever seen.
Pros
  • Generous Round Tubes
  • Double Front Pockets
  • Excellent bucktail and jig storage
  • Price, Price, Price
Cons
  • Replaced pork-rind pocket with water bottle holder

Great bag!!

Got it just in time, and decided to use it on a trip to the Salmon River in NY. Worked great held everything I needed with room to spare. Tried it out on the beach last night and it served its purpose well. Seems well built, with plenty of room.

Great Bag For Fishing From Surf
April 30, 2019
I bought the Bluewave Bag last season as a smaller plug bag to fish the beach with and honestly works perfect not too big but it can fit anything in it. Pliers holder came in handy in waist deep water and it clips to your wader belt perfectly. Totally would recommend this product for anyone going out in the surf

Great surf bag!
November 10, 2014
I have a decent amount of plugs, tons and jigs when I fish. This is my favorite bag to store them in! Big plugs won't fit in the compartments though...
Pros
  • Very nice bag.
Cons
  • Small compartments.

great off the shelf bag!

look, we would all love to have a custom bag that has all the little accoutrements to fit our style of fishing. but how many can afford that. this bag offers a good amount of storage space. durable, can take a pretty good beating and still survive. sleek design too. plenty of drainage. probably more than some custom bags in my opinion.
Pros
  • top velcro flap flips out and away from you instead of toward you. its very annoying to try and search through a bag who's top flap opens toward your body when its attached to your belt. compound that with a lot of other gear, surf top, waders etc etc etc. and youll obviously have a very frustrating situation. internal dividers with hook holders are a plus when you have smaller plugs, but can also be a pain if they get caught sliding back into the insert. multiple spots for bucktails and tins separated by a plastic divider, which is great for keeping hooks from getting tangled.
Cons
  • larger plugs wont work well with dividers. dividers can also be a pain sliding back into the insert sometimes so be aware of that. belt loops will fail on you. I had to glue them back on and attach a shoulder strap to take pressure off the belt loops.

Very Well Made Bags!
June 6, 2014
Being an avid user of Shimano Reels, rods, and apparel, it was only natural that I give this bag a shot. And I am glad I did. If you use Shimano Reels and Rods, then you know how well made, durable, and reliable, they are. Same holds true for these bags. Very well made, laid out, and practical. As well as durable, and well thought out. I actually started with the small bag. Using it for a couple of years, until my lure arsenal became larger. I then bought the medium bag, giving the small one to my Brother in Law. After 3 seasons with the small bag, in the surf, he thought I bought him a new bag! The main differences between the small and medium bag is; 2 extra vertical plug holders(divided in half by black dividers), medium bag has a larger side pouch to hold a small box(small one has a pouch to hold 2 jars of pork), and a larger area in order to store more tins, bucktails and diamond jigs. Both bags have a pliers sheath secured with a Velcro strap on the narrow side, tin, bucktail and jig holders, and vertical plug tubes divided in half with black dividers. Both have a large D ring on the back side of the bag with a large carabiner so you can clip it onto a D ring on your wader belt, taking pressure and weight off of your neck from the strap. They also have a large D ring on side near where the strap is secured, above the pliers sheath to secure your pliers lanyard or anything you may have. And 2 drain holes in the bottom of the bag. The bag closes with commercial grade heavy duty Velcro. And the material the bag is made out of is also heavy duty. And the strap is included with both bags. And lastly, the price of both is great and affordable. I could not find a bag, made of such high quality as these, for under $100. And then the quality of some of the bags for over $100 were questionable. And you have to purchase the shoulder strap separately for some of the others! I am very happy with this bag. And I am sure you will be as well. Be well!
Pros
  • High Quality, durable, practical, well though out, large enough to hold a great many plugs, tins, bucktails and jigs, affordable, comes with an attached carabiner to secure bag to your belt, shoulder strap is included
Cons
  • None
