The Shimano Sedona FE Spinning Reels feature a more compact body, machined handle, and double anodized and machine cut spool. They are more compact in design compared to the previous Sedona reels. The compact design features new XGT7 composite material. This design allows for this reel to be lightweight and with a rigid foundation. The Dyna Balance system eliminates wobble during the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor to enhance sensitivity and smoothness. By using computer balancing similar to car tire balancing Shimano was able to redistribute the rotor weight to create smooth rotation and eliminate vibrations.

  • Propulsion line management system: Reduces casting friction as line leaves the spool as well as reducing line-slap on rod guides
  • Dyna Balance technology
  • Compact body
  • CF Aluminum Cold Forged Spool

Nice starter reels
January 3, 2018
If you are looking for a starter reel (bought for grandsons) this is a great little reel. Smooth, good capacity and all the Shimano perks on a lower scale, affordable reel. Great performance in salt and fresh water.
Pros
  • Smooth action, well built.

Shimano is the best

First let me say I am a Shimano fan in my opinion they make the best fishing reels. This Sedona is no different than most of the other Shimano reels I own. They give you all the have and some more.

I keep these on my kids small spinning rods. They absolutely tortured them last year with small bonita offshore and they still work great.

Amazing reel
July 13, 2017
I bought this reel at a pawn shop because I wanted the rod it was attached to. It soon became my favorite ice rod and I have bought 3 since then. Super smooth and just amazing feel. Replaced all of my presidents with it.

Does the "c" in the model name refer to compact or clam?

Or what is the difference between the fe and fec model?

1 Answer
The "c" stands for clam pack. The FE models come in a reel box while the fec comes in a clampack

I got two of these on black Friday, one free looking for size rod for schoolies and light tackle
1 Answer
I would look at the 7'6 st.croix avid inshore mh/fast action. That would handle schoolies perfectly as well as anything larger that may come your way.

Where is the switch to keep it from free spinning
1 Answer
The anti-reverse switch is located on the bottom of the reel body directly behind the rotor.
