I matched this rod with the Shimano TEK600HGA Tekota Levelwind Conventional Reel. The rod tip has good feel for fishing in 400 ft or shallow ocean waters. I link the overall length and enough room at the end of rod for stability.

Hi Stephen, The Shimano Saguaro Casting rods are more intended for bottomfishing, throwing artificials, and chunking live bait. For a Light trolling rod I would recommend a TackleDirect TDSSUT661MHSB Silver Hook Series Conventional Stand-Up Rod.
