I ordered two Nasci 3000s from Tackle direct on Friday morning. UPS said they would be here on Monday, but they arrived two days early on Saturday morning…WOW!!!! I went fishing on the Chesapeake on Sunday.
These reels are paired with Shimano 7ft 6in GLF Med/Hvy rods with 15lb Power Pro Slick line with 20lb Yo-Zuri Super Know leader. I was throwing a Aqua Dream 1/2oz spoon on one rod and a Zman DieZel minnow on a Zman 3/8oz Redfish eye.
These reels are super smooth and holds plenty of braid. The drag is very powerful. They are extremely quiet. They are super affordable as well. For the price of one Stradic, you can buy two of these. Comparing these to a Stradic, they are very close

awesome reel at a great price. This is as close to a stradic as you can get Shimano did a great job making this reel.

- Get for fresh and saltwater. Also the reel water sealed were you don?t need to worry about it.
- The reel has a Smooth retrieve and a powerful enough drag for 20 lbs Stripers.

For the price point it will be hard to find another reel as smooth or as capable as the Shimano Nasci. $110 is considered “budget” now a days for an inshore fishing reel it’s great to know Shimano still offers quality products at this price. Highly recommend.

Shimano NAS2500HGFC Nasci FC Spinning Reel

I purchased this reel because I couldn't get a reel that was out of stock. I am happy I settled for it. It is solid, smooth and the line lays nicely. I put 10lb Power Pro on it and paired it with a St. Croix TSR76MF Triumph Spinning Rod - 7 ft. 6 in. I immedialy noticed the difference in the length of the cast. I am happy I purchased this reel and expect it to last a long time with routine maintenance.

Haven’t put this reel to the test yet but a problem has already surfaced.The reel lays line in an hour glass pattern.Thin in the middle and heavy on the top and bottom.Nothing shims could do.Design flaw.

I am looking for a 3000 size inshore reel for under $130. So far my top choices are this Nasci FC and the SpherosSW 3000. I want to know which of these two reels is better at keeping water and sand from damaging the reel, and which one you would recommend overall. If you have any other suggestions, I am all ears. Hi Antonio, Both the NASCI FC and the Spheros SW are very similar. I would recommend the Shimano SP3000XGSW Spheros SW Inshore Spinning Reel. Is this reel's internal workings sealed like a Penn Spinfisher? If not sealed, how does it fare with saltwater corrosion?

Hi John, According to Shimano the 2021 Nasci FC Spinning Reels have a sealed Drag and also have CoreProtect which helps reduce water intrusion from the elements. You will want to go with the 5000. For surf rods you will want to go with a larger reel 6000 is an ideal starting size for a surf rod but you should be good with a 5000. I have the same rod an 8ft tsunami airwave and I have a 4000 size Sienna on it and it leaves me wanting more capacity everytime I cast into the surf.
