Larger hooks essential to replace on Lucanus Jigs
July 7, 2016
On the small Lucanus jigs the assis hooks are way too small - you have to change them out to make the rockfish stick.
Lost quite a few fish before I changed the hooks
Pros
  • Super sharp hooks - be careful handling these.
Cons
  • cost - well it's Shimano

Must Have if you use Lucanus Jig

Essential component in your tackle box. I fever you get snagged try to work on weakening the hook rather than the leader.
This will save you some bucks as you will just have to change hooks rather than the whole jig.

Double hook double hookups
June 2, 2014
the lucanus jigs are the best fluking and seabass jigs and by far my favorite, and the double hooks provides for twice the hookup ratio

Deceptively secure

These hooks don't just work great with the lucanus jigs you can rig them onto other lures and they work perfect. You would think that they couldn't handle decent sized fish but I've witnessed and experienced firsthand what they're capable of. Have extra packs of these with me at all times.

can you use mono ldr. to attach the owner hook
1 Answer
Hi Don, I would recommend to use a Owner Stinger Jig Hook. These use a Technora line that is 3X stronger than monofilament line and would be ideal for any Lucanus jig. https://www.tackledirect.com/owner-stinger-hooks1.html Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

how do you replace these ?

Push down on the Kevlar sleeve to push the ring out. Cut off the old hooks and pull out the rig. D the opposite to install the new ones.
