Shimano Lucanus Bucktail Jigs use real deer hair along paired with reflective Mylar to achieve a more natural presentation and movement in the water. The double hook system of the classic Shimano Lucanus Jig has been replaced with a 3/0 single assist hook, which allows anglers to add a strip of bait when needed.

Shimano Lucanus jigs are well constructed and top shelf. However as with all shimano products they are over priced.
Pros
  • Well constructed and quality components. Good paint and coloring, quality assist hooks and connections.
Cons
  • Price. Compared to similar products on the market these lures are above the average cost.

Works like a Flounder Magnet

I read reviews that flounder can't resist these - it is true - best BuckTail Jig I've used - better than smiling bills and those are great
Pros
  • Free floating hook so allows bait to lie naturally
  • two eyelets
  • extra opening to attach extra weight
Cons
  • they need to make even heavier sizes

I heard it's good for flounder,

can someone guide me which color and size to get?

1 Answer
If fishing the bay, The 60 and 80g sizes will be the best fit. For ocean fluking, the larger sizes up to the 200g will work best. Color is mainly up to the user. I recommend using green/chartreuse and white colors.
