The Intenza is built on a 30 ton graphite blank that provides the ideal balance of strength and sensitivity. These blanks are custom tapered to provide a wide variety actions and lengths to suit just about any popular bass fishing technique. From giant cranking rods and flipping sticks to finesse rods for jerkbaits and topwaters, the Intenza series has you covered. The most notable feature on the Intenza is the introduction of G Alpha, a ground-breaking new grip technology that provides enhanced grip and comfort. All rods in the Intenza series are fitted with custom Shimano reel seats and durable SeaGuide Aluminum Oxide guides.

Looking at Shimano Intenza Casting Rods. What is the difference or purpose of the "glass" blanks as opposed to graphite?

Great question! A glass rod has an entirely different blank construction than graphite that provides a much more forgiving and parabolic rod. While it's not ideal when trying to drive a single hook home (Graphite all the way here), a glass rod excels when fishing something like a crankbait where the fish may swipe at the treble hooks and not get hooked well. The rod bends deeper towards the reel seat and has more forgiveness as a fish tries to throw the bait- resulting in more landed fish.
