Redesigned for 2021, the newest evolution of Shimano Game Type J Spinning Jigging Rods utilize cutting-edge blank technology to further push the limits of what a jigging rod is capable of. Featuring unprecedented strength and responsiveness, the newest Game Type J Jigging Rod series is designed for anglers who look to expand the ever-changing boundaries within the world of jigging. The new Game Type J Rods integrate Shimano's patented Hi-Power X and Spiral-X Core technologies for rod blanks that perform flawlessly under the most demanding circumstances. Spiral X construction consists of multiple layers comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions, resulting in enhanced torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This construction results in an extremely responsive rod that allows for instant power transmission while casting or jigging, and greatly enhances fish fighting capabilities. Spiral X blanks are 250% more structurally rigid and 180% less prone to twisting than standard blank construction. Offering only the finest of components to compliment these state-of-the-art blanks, models with power ratings Medium-Light through Medium-Heavy feature Shimano Ci4+ Reel Seats, which are comfortable, extremely light, and are among the most sensitive reel seats available. Models rated as Heavy through XX-Heavy incorporate Fuji reel seats for increased durability when fighting on giant fish. All models are wrapped with lightweight and extremely durable Fuji SiC guides built to withstand the most extreme drag pressures. When it comes to a wide variety of jigging techniques for both pelagic and reef fish, the Game Type J paired with Shimano's flagship series of jigging tackle has no equal.

Super lightweight and thin. But stronger than I thought. I can cast a 150g jig
November 22, 2021
I use it for southern CA Bottom fishing mostly. Super lightweight and thin. But no twist at all. S64ML feels like H or XH to me. 2X harder than SALTIGA slow 61M(Max250g). Maybe good for Yellowtail or small Tuna such as speedrunner. I use the Stella C500XG with a 30lbs PE line.
Pros
  • Super lightweight and thin. But stronger than I thought. The best part is I can cast a 150g jig with no problem. Powerful. Great quality. Best reel sheet,
Cons
  • S64ML feels like H or XH. I couldn't feel tiny fish.

1 Answer
Hi Ramy, The Shimano GTJS64MLA Game Type J Spinning Jigging Rod comes with a 30 day manufacturer warranty from Shimano Fishing USA. The max size reel you could use with this would be about a 6000 size. The maximum recommended Braided line for this rod would be 30lb Braid. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

WhT is the main difference between the 2021 model and the previous game type model.
1 Answer
Bob, the main difference will be the additional technologies that were incorporated into the blanks of the new models, Hi-Power X and Spiral-X. Results in a structurally stronger blank that is less prone to twisting or breaking when hooked up on a big fish. Please let us know if we can assist with anything else.

Which model would you recommend for a Shimano Saragosa 10000PG ?
1 Answer
I would consider the strength of braid you're using when deciding which rod fits your reel best. The Xheavy 5'3 is rated for 100 lb braid, while the 6'4 medium light is rated for 30 lb braid. Each model falls into a specific braided line rating and that is important when deciding which rod to pair with your reel. Take a look at the braid ratings for each rod under the "Order Chart" section and decide which action you prefer, a heavier, stiffer action rod designed for braided line in the 60-100 lb range, or a lighter action rod with more bend designed for thinner, lighter braid in the 30-50 lb range.
