Great for the Price

These are the best $15 rods. I bought several for saltwater patch reef fishing, and none have snapped even after bumping them and catching all sorts of snappers.

The longer baitcasting options of this rod are my favorite.

great rod value

I have both the 6ft and 7ft. Both are sturdy and flexible, great action for medium rods. 7 FT seems a little more heavy duty, even though still a medium. perform like rods that are much more expensive.

I own six of these rods and have used them to
Catch a variety of fish including striped bass , porgies ; Black Sea bass and blue fish up to 10
Pounds or more . You Can’t best the price point
And versatility of this rod even at a more expensive price . It is the appropriate piece of equipment for beginners and experienced anglers
I have equipped my shimano rods with high end

And enjoy dealing with them on a repeated basis .

Can I use a spinning reel for this rod for trout?
1 Answer
I suppose you could, however I am not positive the reel seat would function properly. I would recommend the spinning version of this same rod to pair for a spinning reel as it is designed with the correct reel seat, and right sized guides for properly casting a spinning reel:

Can I use a spinning reel for this casting rod?
1 Answer
Sean,

It is not recommended to use a spinning reel on the casting rod by the manufacturer, as the rod is built for conventional reel.  However, if you want to put a spinning reel on the Shimano FX rod you can, but it may not cast well as the rod guides are set up for casting / conventional reel.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with. why is this rod so cheap?
1 Answer
Ammon,

The Shimano FX spinning rods are inexpensive because of their components.  These rods feature a durable aeroglass blank construction with comfortable EVA grips and reinforced aluminum oxide guides.  But with models ranging from ultra-light rods for panfish and trout to seven footers perfect for walleye and bass, the FX series has great versatility.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
